Application for a Bib Number from GCSfor the 2010 Boston Marathon, April 20

The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 19, 2009. By providing race volunteers for the event, Gate City is awarded 10 non-qualifying bib numbers to be distributed to deserving members. We have set up the qualifying criterion below to be fair to all members, and we will accept and process applications according to the priorities specified. Boston is the oldest and most famous marathon in the world; and it is the only one with qualifying standards. For many runners, Boston represents the essence of the sport. They will accept applications until the limit of 25,000 is reached—including qualified and non-qualified (club and charity) runners. The BAA entrusts GCS and some other running clubs in the region with distributing these limited non-qualified numbers based on strict guidelines. Recipients of non-qualified numbers are expected to be active club members, experienced marathoners, and essential volunteers within their club and the running community at large. Please note that entry fees must be paid by those awarded these numbers: $250 ($300 after February 15, 2009). Numbers will be awarded in December.
