TO THE APPLICANT:

Your interest in becoming a Professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order is warmly received by your Fraternity.

At this time we would appreciate your written comments on the following questions. (All information is confidential.) After completion, please send your responses, along with your public profession letter to your Fraternity Minister. Subsequently, a meeting will be arranged between you and those responsible for formation in the Fraternity. Thank You.

Please comment on the following questions:

1. Since starting your Franciscan journey, what sources have you read (related to the Franciscan Way of Life, other than the text assigned for study) that you have found helpful?

2. How has the formation process been helpful to you (i.e. growth as a person, relationship to God, relationship to other candidates as individuals & as community, your prayer life, Scripture values)?

3. What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus in today’s society?

4. What activities/actions related to human needs are you presently involved in?

5. What particular gifts (talents, skills, insights) will you bring to enrich community growth of this fraternity?

6. What are your reasons for wanting to become a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order?

7. Do you know and can you support the official responsibilities asked by the Order of anyone who is a professed member or is seeking to enter the secular Franciscan Family?

8. Why do you feel commitment to community life as found in the Fraternity is an essential part of the Franciscan Way of Life?

9. As we look to the future, what in your opinion would enhance the growth of Community in your Fraternity.

10. Do your present circumstances allow you to freely commit yourself to the Secular Franciscan Order (Fraternity/Community)?

11. What other materials/practices would you like to see incorporated into the continuing formation program? How can we best help you?

12. As we look to the future, what in your opinion would bring about a greater sense of unity between all members of the Franciscan Family (Religious, Friars, Secular/Laity)?
