ANNUAL GWPOA MEETING

The Gaylord West Property Owners Association Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, May 4, 7:00 p.m., at Peace Lutheran Church. We encourage your attendance with your ideas and concerns to improve our common life in the neighborhood. The election of the Board of Directors for the coming year also takes place at this meeting. Every lot owner whose dues are up to date is permitted to vote.

DUES INCREASE

At the annual meeting last year we unanimously voted to increase the dues to $30.00 per developed lot, and $15.00 per undeveloped lot. This is the first dues increase in 15 years and was necessary because expenses had exceeded income for some time. Dues pay for our six street lights and the maintenance of our entrance sign and surrounding area. Occasionally we also have extraordinary expenses such as the aerial spraying for tent caterpillars a few years ago.

MURNER ROAD CLEANUP

Our neighborhood has adopted the two miles of Murner Road north of M-32. Join us to clean the road on Saturday, May 16, 10:00 a.m. We’ll gather at the neighborhood entrance. Bring gloves; collection bags will be provided. Help us keep the road leading to our homes clean. It’s always great to see new faces.

HOLIDAY

DECORATION

CONTEST

Congratulations to the winners of our Holiday Decoration contest: The Jenkins family, the Hattis family, the Mathu family, and the Hebden family were given gift certificates to La Senorita. Thank you for brightening our neighborhood with holiday cheer.

OUR BEAUTIFUL NEIGHBORHOOD

Help us keep the neighborhood looking nice by eliminating clutter around your homes. Please don’t use your yards to store unwanted vehicles, appliances, and other discarded items.

NEIGHBORHOOD WEBSITE

We are looking for a “webmaster” who would be willing to update and maintain the Gaylord West website. Do you have the skills? It would only take a few minutes every other month.

NEIGHBORHOOD GARAGE SALE

The Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 12-13, 9:00 – 4:00. The sale will be advertised in the Herald Times and Market Place. You can hold a garage sale any day you wish, but you may get a bigger crowd on this weekend.

RADON TESTING

Have you had your house tested for radon gas? Several of the homes in our neighborhood have tested over acceptable limits. Radon gas collects in the lower levels of the house and is one of the leading causes of lung cancer. Easy to use kits are available at the Otsego County Health Department, 95 Livingston Blvd. (732-1974).

THANKS, MIKE

Our sincere thanks to Michael Edwards for his many years as president of our neighborhood association.

Mike had been a member of the board since 1999, but has recently moved out of the neighborhood. His departure creates a vacancy on the board that will be filled at the annual meeting.

CHILDREN PLAYING

With the approach of spring and summer, children are again riding bikes in the streets and playing in their yards. Please watch out for them as you drive through the neighborhood and keep your speeds below the posted 25 mile per hour limit.
