CHICAGO – Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter and pianist Angela Hewitt perform at Mandel Hall on Sunday, January 11th at 3:00 PM. Together, they will offer an intimate afternoon of German and French songs and solo piano works.

One of the world’s most beloved mezzo-sopranos, Anne Sofie von Otter has a particular love of the French language. Her exceptional sensitivity and intelligence will figure prominently in songs by five French composers: Hahn, Fauré, Chabrier, Debussy, and Chaminade. Von Otter will also perform works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms.

In addition to accompanying von Otter in this performance, Angela Hewitt will be performing works for piano by Schubert, Brahms, and Chabrier. She is renowned worldwide for her solo performances, performing recitals in the most acclaimed concerts halls and concertos with the world’s great orchestras.

There will be a pre-concert talk with Angela Hewitt and Berthold Hoeckner, UChicago Associate Professor of Music and the Humanities, at 2:00 PM.
