Ambassador for Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resources
Position Description
Ambassadors serve as student representatives of Oregon State University, the College of Agricultural Sciences, and the College of Forestry. Ambassadors contribute to the advancement of OSU and of the Colleges through participation in promotional and recruiting activities including on-campus recruiting events, professional conferences, as well as industry and alumni events. Other recruiting activities include correspondence with prospective students, visits to high schools and community colleges, and campus tours for prospective students and their parents.

· 1-3 upper-division general agriculture reading and conference credit(s) or forestry seminar credit(s) (AG 402/FOR 407) for the spring 2015 term
Duties
· Represent the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry during industry events, professional conferences, and on-campus student recruitment programs
· Arrange and conduct high school and community college visits as requested
· Host on-campus visits, including facility tours for high school student organizations, prospective families and interested individuals
· Communicate with prospective students, alumni, donors, faculty, staff and community members, including making phone calls to prospective students
· Maintain accurate records regarding visitation schedules and expenses
· Attend all team meetings and leadership development courses
· Develop and complete projects that support the recruitment efforts of the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry
· Assist with departmental projects as assigned
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Current full-time undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student enrolled in a degree program administered by the College of Agricultural Sciences or the College of Forestry, who intends to enroll at OSU for Spring 2015, Fall 2015, Winter 2016, and Spring 2016
· Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.95
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to travel and to make appropriate presentations in a variety of venues
· Ability to effectively present the positive attributes of Oregon State University, as well as the expanding and exciting fields of agriculture, forestry, and natural resources
· Initiative, dependability, discipline, creativity, and self-confidence
· Ability to work well with others in a team environment
Period of Service
· Training spring term 2015
· The 2015−2016 academic year, including CONNECT Week
· The time commitment per week varies widely, depending on whether a week is primarily spent on preparation or on event attendance or travel.

· April–June 2015

o Have photos taken and write biography for Ambassadors brochure and website
o Attend Ag Day in the Quad
o Attend COF Awards Ceremony, Celebrating Student Excellence Event, Golden Jubilee Welcome Reception
· September–December 2015, including CONNECT Week.
o Attend required Ambassador meetings (Day and Time: TBA)Attend and assist with Connect Week activities, including the CAS Fall Kick-Off Barbecue or College of Forestry’s Annual Ring and Fall Barbecue
o Attend College Tailgate events (Homecoming Weekend)
o Represent the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry for Wood Magic, Preview Day, Veterans’ Day, Beaver Open House, professional conferences and annual meetings (National FFA Convention), and industry events
o Arrange and conduct Oregon high school visits within assigned recruiting regions (predominantly CAS)
o Host on-campus visitation programs, including facility tours for high school student organizations and advisor appointments for prospective students
· January–March 2016
o Attend required Ambassador meetings (Day and Time: TBA)
o Represent the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry during professional conferences and annual meetings, industry events, Kaleidoscope of Colleges and Cultures, the Oregon Logging Conference, and the Oregon FFA convention (first weekend of Spring Break)
o Arrange and conduct Oregon high school visits within an assigned recruiting region (predominantly CAS)
o Host on-campus visitation programs, including facility tours for high school student organizations and advisor appointments for prospective students
o Assist with the selection of the 2016-2017 Ambassador team
· April–June 2016
o Attend required Ambassador meetings (Day and Time: TBA)
o Represent the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry during three Spring Visits, professional conferences/annual meetings, and industry events
o Attend Ag Day in the Quad
o Arrange and conduct Oregon high school visits within an assigned recruiting region (predominantly CAS).
o Host on-campus visitation programs, including facility tours for high school student organizations and advisor appointments for individuals
