PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Duties also include responding to a myriad of inquiries relating to such issues as transcript evaluations, course substitutions, certification problems, and faculty concerns regarding academic considerations in program courses

· Half-time Faculty, (Associate Professor) in the Department of Adolescent, Career & Special Education, teaching undergraduate and graduate health and physical education courses for the College of Education and teaching exercise science, health classes, and golf classes for the Department of Wellness & Therapeutic Services in the College of Health Sciences and Human Services.

· Program Coordinator, Health & Physical Education Programs. Duties include handling the day to day administrative responsibilities for the area in Health & Physical Education, the minors in HPE and Athletic Coaching, plus the graduate program. Duties also include responding to a myriad of inquiries relating to such issues as transcript evaluations, course substitutions, certification problems, and faculty concerns regarding academic considerations in program courses

· Academic Advisor for approximately 80 Health & Physical Education area students. A new faculty member has begun to work with a few of the underclassmen, although all majors and minors with academic or scheduling problems end up in my office for advisement. I also handle the advisement duties for the graduate students in health and physical education programs.

· Half-time assignment to the Kentucky Academy of Technology Education (K.A.T.E.). Currently assigned to a grant working with developing technological capabilities of pre-service teachers.

· Graduate Coordinator and Graduate Faculty for Health and Physical Education Programs.

· Full-time Faculty, (Associate Professor) in the Department of Adolescent, Career & Special Education, teaching undergraduate and graduate health and physical education courses for the College of Education and teaching exercise science and health classes for the Department of Wellness & Therapeutic Services in the College of Health Sciences and Human Services

· Program Coordinator, Health & Physical Education Programs. Duties include handling the day to day administrative responsibilities for the several major and minor programs in health, physical education, and athletic coaching, plus the graduate program. Duties also include responding to a myriad of inquiries relating to such issues as transcript evaluations, course substitutions, certification problems, and faculty concerns regarding academic considerations in program courses. The design and preparation of a new area in health and physical education to replace the current double major in health and physical education has been a major undertaking for the current academic year.

· Academic Advisor for all but a handful of the 58 “active” physical education/health education double majors and the 14 “active” health education majors. A new faculty member has begun to work with a few of the underclassmen, although all majors and minors with academic or scheduling problems end up in my office for advisement. I also handle the advisement duties for the relatively small number of graduate students in health and physical education programs.

· Building Coordinator and Scheduler for Carr Health Building. With all of Carr Health Building currently closed for renovation with the exception of the swimming pool, the duties associated with this position are somewhat restricted. However, I am still responsible for hiring, scheduling, and supervising seven student lifeguards, supervising three full-time employees who serve as equipment managers for Carr Health, supervising the storage, use, and maintenance of the contents of Carr Health (including sports and class equipment and furniture), and serving as a member of the renovation team with responsibilities that include responding to issues that arise regularly regarding the impact of construction changes and other concerns. In anticipation of a fall semester reopening, I am currently involved in scheduling classroom, laboratory, and activity space for classes offered in Carr Health by both the College of Education and the College of Health Sciences and Human Services.

· Technology Coordinator for all faculty/staff normally housed in Carr Health, including those from the College of Education and the College of Health Sciences and Human Services. Duties include desktop support, computer repair, network support, and some training.

· Consultant to the Kentucky Academy of Technology Education (K.A.T.E.). Duties include assisting K.A.T.E. with issues relating to the COE Exchange e-mail server and other concerns regarding computing in the College of Education.

· Graduate Faculty for Health and Physical Education Programs. The only graduate faculty in 2000-2001.

1992-2000 Technology Coordinator for the Murray State University College of Education. Assigned responsibilities as Technology Coordinator include directing the ATCOM/College of Education computer laboratory, managing the Microsoft Exchange e-mail server used by the College of Education, and serving as a liaison between the College of Education and the technology coordinators of the public schools of west Kentucky. I continue to hold the rank of associate professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Responsibilities in HPER are restricted to teaching EXS 450—Advanced Exercise Physiology in the fall and HEA 191—Personal Health in the summer.

1974‑1992 Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky. Assigned responsibilities included teaching graduate and undergraduate HPER classes, serving as graduate coordinator, advising undergraduate and graduate students, serving on various departmental and collegiate committees, and directing the Human Performance Laboratory

1973-1974 Chemistry and Biology Teacher, Evans County High School, Claxton, Georgia. Responsibilities included teaching one section of high school chemistry and two section of high school biology. In addition, I taught two sections of ninth grade physical science. Position resigned after one year to pursue a doctoral degree.

1972-1973 Junior High School Physical Education Teacher and Coach, New Ellenton Junior High School, New Ellenton, South Carolina. Responsibilities included teaching three sections of junior high school physical education and two sections of seventh grade social studies. I was also head football coach, head basketball coach (boys) and golf coach (boys). Position resigned after one year to pursue a masters degree.

1971-1972 K-8 Physical Education Teacher, Northside Elementary School, Cairo, Georgia.K-8. Position resigned after one year to pursue a doctoral degree full-time.
