T: read & journal “Can where you are change who you are?”, have them draw settings on a four papers, (have setting suggestions on slips of paper for anyone who gets stuck) give each table a paper doll KAGAN round robin passing the doll around and make up a story about the doll
W:Read and journal “describe how setting affects a story” project excerpts from “Dark they were and golden-eyed” students determine the setting. Use spinner to call on table number and seat number to share with the class.
Th:read & journal; introduce mood and tone add definition to Cornell notes; reader’s workshop – tone and mood (TE 454-455)
F:read & journal; students use KAGAN Rally Coach to complete worksheet with excerpts from “Dark they were…” to explain mood (questions and excerpts from the margins of the interactive reader)
