JOB TITLE: Co-ordinator Edna Johnson & Age UK East Sussex Scams Prevention

JOB PURPOSE: To co-ordinate the Age UK East Sussex Scams project across Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Team Leader

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Team of volunteers.

LOCATION: Hastings, Eastbourne or Lewes Areas

HOURS OF WORK: Part time – 24 hours a week.

CONTRACT: Permanent contract.

PURPOSE OF POST:

To co-ordinate and develop the Age UK East Sussex Scams service specifically for people over 50 who have been or are under threat of being scammed. The service provides short term personalised support to help people cope with the shock of being scammed

Awareness raising

The service will be available 52 weeks in the year with the exception of bank holidays and referrals can be made 5 days a week between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

To recruit, train, supervise and support a team of volunteers to assist in the provision of this service.

Build up a very strong relationship with the National Scams Team, Trading Standards and Sussex Police as they will be a key referral sources

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To work with the Team Leader to effectively promote the service to ensure that it is accessible to all people in later life who meet the service criteria.

2. To liaise with our internal marketing team around marketing

3. To work with the Team Leader to ensure training is available for all volunteers

4. To conduct a person centred assessment, draft a person centred plan, undertake a home risk assessment and where appropriate match a volunteer to provide practical extra support

5. To complete three client contacts

6. Awareness raising – please check w Police Proposal

7. To assist people in later life to access local activities and support. This will include signposting to other services. In particular, you will ensure that carers are referred/signposted to the relevant support services.

8. To be responsible for assisting people in later life cope with the shock of being scammed. This will include dealing with issues around loneliness and financial support.

9. To recruit, induct, support and supervise volunteers in line with the Organisation’s policies and procedures. Volunteers are to receive structured supervision every 2 months with the Co-ordinator.

10. To ensure that accurate records are maintained of client support, volunteer supervision and volunteer training.

11. To ensure that records, data and client evaluations is collected and added to Charity and reports are produced as necessary.

12. To maintain the Service’s database.

13. To keep up to date with service developments.

14. Work with the National Scams Agency to make sure we have the referrals needed to meet our targets.

Other

15. To work within the terms of the policies and procedures adopted by Age UK East Sussex, with particular attention to equal opportunities, confidentiality, safeguarding adults at risk and health and safety requirements.

16. To be prepared to alter agreed weekly working arrangements on occasions to be able to attend meetings and events and/or to cover other team members’ sickness or annual leave.

17. To understand and act within our quality frameworks (currently ISO 9001 and Quality Counts)

18. To ensure that template (standard) documents for the service are developed, stored and reviewed in accordance with the template document procedure

19. To ensure that all external complaints are logged and acted upon according to the complaints procedure

20. To ensure that all non conformance of your service/activity (i.e. where the service/activity does not meet the standards expected) are raised with your line manager and logged on the appropriate form with agreed preventative action

21. To conduct evaluation of all events and activities.

22. To support the Health and Community Development Manager and Team Leader to conduct an annual focus group with volunteers, clients and carers to evaluate the service.

23. To conduct regular customer satisfaction surveys and analyse the results. To share information and take part in a Macmillan service review

24. To undertake other tasks and duties as may be reasonably required by the Health & Community Development Manager.

Training

25. All new service co-ordinators will be expected to take part in the following training: First aid, managing medication, manual handling, infection control, health & safety, basic food hygiene, safeguarding vulnerable adults, equality and diversity, confidentiality, data protection, lone working, dementia awareness, human rights and volunteer management.

26. It is expected that you will attend annual health and safety, first aid and safeguarding adults at risk refreshers. All other training will need to be updated every three years.

27. To participate in AUKES staff conferences, training and other events as required.

28. To work constructively with other staff members and teams at AUKES and contribute towards a happy work environment.

29. To participate in fundraising activities.

30. To cross promote all AUKES services, products and commercial activities
