Poetry Research and Presentation

Poetry is a very individualized style of writing and with each poem comes many different interpretations. Instead of trying to tell you what others have thought about famous poems and their authors I have decided instead to have you tell me what you think specific poems mean.

Research will still need to be done on specific writers, time periods, and of course the poems, but overall this will be a chance for you to decide what some of the most famous poetry writers are trying to say in their poetry.

What needs to be done:

Research either: One specific author, one specific genre or one specific time period

1. Photocopy two poems of your choosing

2. Analyze each of the two poems you have chosen using outside sources.

· Write one page of analysis for each poem

3. Write one paragraph to one page of author information (for each of the authors you have chosen.)

Format for Written Work:

1. MLA Format and guidelines

2. MINIMUM of one source per poem

3. Organization:

Page 1- Why you chose this author, genre, or time period

Page 2- Your author information

Page 3- Poem 1

Page 4- Analysis

Page 5- Poem 2

Page 6- Analysis

Page 7- Works Cited page

4. Due Date For Written Work: _______________________________
