At the recent 4th Annual Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Cup, the HALO U11 team won the championship in the U11 bracket. The U15 team finished 2nd in the same tournament, and qualified to play in theIMG Nationals in Florida! Congratulations to both teams and to all of the Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse players on those teams.

HALO will field teams at U11, U13, U15, and U17 for the Fall. Two free clinics will serve as tryouts for these teams and are scheduled as follows:

  • Sep-20th 2:00-4:00 at Colorado College-Washburn Field

Thunderbolt Lacrosse

The Thunderbolt lacrosse teams practice at the Air Force Academy, and this program offers an additional opportunity to play high-level lacrosse in Colorado Springs. As of publication of this newsletter, tryouts, practices and tournaments have not yet been announced…but the tryouts are expected to be held sometime in October. In past years, they fielded teams at the HS, U15, U13, U11, and U9 levels, and play in two tournaments.

DU BOX LACROSSE LEAGUE

Kurt Johnson and Robert Folaron are recruiting players for this, to play on behalf of CMHS. Please read the information below very carefully and thoroughly…and let one of us know if you are interested…play begins September 14th. Thank You!

From LXTC Lacrosse – Denver…

Box lacrosse is the best way forplayers to learn how to play the game. There are fewer players at one time, they get more touches on the ball, the walls keep the ball in play, they develop their stick skills better in tighter spaces and it is fun to play! This is why you see so many Canadian players dominating the college ranks these days. They grew up playing mostly box lacrosse and it shows through their superior skill sets. For these reasons, we are proud to present our 2014 FALL DU HIGH SCHOOL BOX LEAGUE.Players may register as free agents or play with their high school teams. You willbe asked for your high school team during the registration and we will assign you to your high school team (if you are participating as a team) or to a free agent team. You do not need to email us with any team requests.

We will assign a minimum of 15 players per team. Teams will play two 1 hour games each Sunday, between 8am and 1pm.Parents and players will be amazed how much their game improves through playing box lacrosse!

Many of our Denver Elite players who have participated in our box programs have benefited immensely from them. This is a huge opportunity for us to grow box lacrosse in Colorado and be a model for lacrosse in the United States, through the mixing of both field and box lacrosse curriculums.
