Course Description

The goal of AP Environmental Science is to understand the inter-relationships of the natural world and to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human made. This course will also provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies to understand the interrelationships of the natural world. This course is designed to prepare students for the College Board AP Environmental Science Exam.

Textbook

Environment: The Science Behind the Stories, by Jay Withgott and Matt Laposata, 5th edition, 2014, Pearson

Homework

All homework is due at the beginning of the block. If you turn your homework in any later than that it will be worth half credit.

Homework may include but is not limited to:

§  Reviewing lecture notes

§  Lab write-ups

§  Reading current textbook content as well as answering questions from the textbook

§  Essays

§  At least ½ hour should be spent every night reviewing the content from class

If you are absent the day a homework assignment is due you MUST turn it in at the beginning of class the next day (or the next day you are in school). If you fail to do this your homework assignment will be considered late.

Grading Policy

A = 93-100

B = 85-92

C = 77-84

D = 70-76

F = 0-69

Attendance Policy

§  If homework is due on a day you are absent that assignment is due as soon as you walk into the next class period.

§  If you are absent on the day of a test or quiz you must take that test or quiz your first day back in school.

§  You have the amount of days you were absent to make up work that you missed while absent.

§  When you are absent it is your responsibility to find out what you missed.
