CALL TO WORSHIP

HYMN OF PRAISE “To God Be the Glory” FMH66

STATEMENT OF FAITH

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

GLORIA PATRI FMH622

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be; world without end. Amen. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

INVITATION TO FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST

HYMN OF INVITATION “Blest Be the Tie That Binds” FMH286

BENEDICTION

BENEDICTION RESPONSE

May the Spirit bind us together, as we build this house of faith; one in heart and one in spirit, may we grow. May we raise our voices in witness. May our lives reflect Thy grace; One in heart and one in spirit as we go ... as we go.

POSTLUDE

ROMANS 10.8-10 (JWS)

And so what does [the scripture] say? “The word is near to you - in your mouth and in your heart;” that is, the word of faith that we are proclaiming. Because if you say it plainly with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord!” and you believe in your heart, “God raised Him from the dead!” then you are saved. Because you believe with your heart and are made right with God, and you confess with your mouth and are saved.

“Reduced; I’m Gorgeous Inside”

1. Learning to follow Jesus from a “House for Sale” sign.

a. Reducing improves our spiritual health.

b. Reducing attracts others to Jesus.

c. Applying the “Three Bears” principle.

i. Maximum faith.

ii. Minimum faith.

iii. Optimum faith.

d. Train easy; race fast.

e. Being gorgeous inside.

2. Faith needs to be simple, not simplistic.

a. The simple faith is strong.

b. The simple faith is available.

c. The simple faith is focused.

i. “Jesus is Lord.”

ii. “God raised Jesus from the dead.”

d. The simple faith is a relationship with Jesus Christ.
