Dear St. Ann Families:

This was a tremendous Tiger Trot! Our school spirit is unmatched. A big THANK YOU to Bridget Ismert and Allie Clark for leading the Tiger Trot this year! Also, many thanks to all parent volunteers, the many underwriters (families, individuals, and companies), the teachers, and the students for your support. Family support is phenomenal and is appreciated. We’ve reached our goal and will be able to buy new round cafeteria tables and finish the classroom lighting initiative.

According to research some of the benefits of the round tables:

· They contribute to a positive, warm, and comfortable atmosphere.

· There is common center and you can hear and see everyone. This allows for more and easier conversation. No need to shout to the other end of the table. Noise levels should be reduced.

· They are inclusive and inviting. There are no seats at the table that are more powerful than another. Round tables are proven to build community and allow for more active socialization.

They say that “people make the place,” and I can truly say that there is no place else I would rather be. You and your children make this St. Ann community the very special place that it is.

Enjoy the weekend! We are…St. Ann!

All the best and God Bless,

Mike

Faith & Discipleship

Please join us for our last Parents Offering Prayers, Wednesday, May 4 after All School Mass in the St. Patrick room. We will be praying for all our wonderful 8th graders and 8th grade teachers this month. Thanks for a great year, everyone!

* May is the Month of Mary!

St. Bernard said, "God wills that all his gifts should come to us through Mary..."

Why not pray a rosary as a family this month? There are so many wonderful devotions to Mary out there! Check out the Family Faith Formation page on the school website for ideas on things you can incorporate into your personal or family devotional life this month to recognize Mary.

Christian Leader of the Week

The Kindergarteners in Mrs. Lickteig’s class have voted Grant Gelhaus as their Christian Leader of the Week. Grant is very kind hearted and courteous to all staff members. He is a hard worker and always puts others first. Grant is always willing to help out however he can.

Special Congratulations to 8th grader Jack Weiford and 7th grader Matia Ianni who represented St. Ann so well at the Modern Woodmen Speech Contest held at Holy Spirit yesterday. Well done- we are proud of you!

Many thanks to Allie Clark and Bridget Ismert for leading the TIGER TROT this year!

Kindergartener Campbell Ross and 2nd grader Jack Gelhaus were Kids Kash winners this week.

Congratulations to the winners of the Tiger Trot Raffle, Megan and Joe Daly!

Hello, St. Ann Families! If I haven’t had a chance to meet you yet, let me introduce myself. My name is Megan Wilkerson and this is my second year teaching 2nd Grade at St. Ann. As many of you may remember, I was fortunate enough to complete my spring student teaching requirement for the University of Kansas right here at St. Ann in 1st grade with the one and only Mrs. Rankin (back then- she was still Ms. Coultis!) She was an incredible mentor and I learned more than I could have ever imagined to prepare me for these past two years!

I grew up just a few miles down Mission Road where I attended Nativity Parish School and later St. Teresa’s Academy. I am extremely close with my family and am lucky enough that we all live within a couple miles of each other. I have two older sisters who are both recently married and one younger brother who is graduating from Rockhurst High School in a few short weeks! I am so blessed to have a little two-year-old niece who I adore spending time with—as do the second graders when she makes a special recess appearance! I can’t wait for our family to continue to grow…I have a niece or nephew who will be arriving in one week!!

Another big part of my life that has led me to St. Ann was my role as Head Swim Coach at Indian Hills Country Club for two years, and Assistant Coach before that during my summer’s home from KU. My time at IHCC was one of the greatest learning experiences in my life thus far. I was given the opportunity to work hands on with 200+ children, communicate regularly with parents, and grow as a teacher as well as an individual. I am so grateful for the parents and children I met along the way, many of them being wonderful St. Ann families J.

I feel extremely blessed to be a part of the St. Ann community. The support and love I feel on a daily basis from all of you is indescribable. It has been another fantastic year watching these second graders grow academically, physically and spiritually through our two special Sacraments. We have built strong relationships and have made many unforgettable memories here in room 116. How are there only 3 weeks left?!

On behalf of the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, thank you for the AWESOME donation of coats. The school brought in 141 coats for the needy! What a positive way to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Thank you to Mr. Riley for allowing the coat drive and to Mrs. Micheletto for her help with publicity. Also, a big thank you to all the fourth graders for their posters.
