Accessing Plato from Home

Step 1: Go to plato.tacomacc.edu

Step 2: enter account # - 1002

Step 3: Enter your user information

Plato name: student ID #

Group name: please see the list of group names the SLC website

Password: whatever you created

Step 4: You will be prompted to download the plug-ins (iPCD3)

Press “OK”

You will get the following message:

Please wait while your browser is updated with the latest IPCD3 plug-in for the PLATO® Web Learning Network...

Downloading plugin install, please wait...

Your browser may automatically block the pop-up to install the plug-ins. You should be able to see this at the top of your screen, just below the address bar. It will probably say “Click here to install”. Click on the message and then select “Install Active X”

Step 5: You’ll get an information box asking you if you want to install the Plato software. Click “Install.” The software will automatically install. Once it has finished downloading, you will be taken to the Plato page where you should see your class.

**About pop-ups: If your pop-ups are blocked, you will not be able to run the courseware. You will just get a message saying “Please wait…” If you get this message, you should go up to where it says “Tools” and select “Turn off pop-up blocker” or “enable pop-ups” or whatever other command you have that will allow your pop ups. Keep in mind that sometimes certain toolbars (downloaded thru yahoo, google, etc.) will automatically block pop-ups for you – if you add Plato to your list of allowed websites, this problem should be taken care of). If you want, you should be able to go into the pop-up blocker settings and allow pop-ups from Plato, while blocking other pop-ups from other websites. If you need help with this, please see a staff person (drop in during open hours or email Angelia at ).
