About the District
Ionia County Intermediate School District was established in 1963 and has a track record of consistent leadership. Since its existence, Ionia County Intermediate School District has been led by only five superintendents.
Special Education
Ionia County Intermediate School District (ICISD) in collaboration with our local districts provides a full continuum of special education programs and services from birth to age 26.
Early Childhood Department
The ECD provides 0-3 early intervention services through Michigan Special Education and Early On to all local districts within the Ionia ISD, as well as parent-child playgroups for families that are high risk for educational difficulties and the general population via tuition. The Ionia ISD fully administers all aspects of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) through a partnership with the local districts. The department is moving towards building more inclusive options for special needs children within the general education preschool in community settings and provides mentoring, professional development and leadership for birth to five special education through the district. The ECD leads the county-wide early literacy effort by being the champion for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Ionia County.
Transition
Transition services are provided to all special education students 14 years and over county-wide. This provides student the opportunity to be better prepared for their lives after high school. Areas included are, Post-Secondary Education, Employment, Independent Living and, if necessary, Daily Living Skills.
General Education
The general education department is consolidated between Ionia County and Montcalm Area ISDs. Districts in both counties receive extensive and timely support in curriculum and instruction in order to meet ESEA and State compliance. General education staff provides professional development, guided school improvement, instructional coaching, and other related services aligned with district and school improvement plans. The general education department also provides administrative support to the three rural schools in Ionia County as well as serves as a clearinghouse for public and private grants/foundation resources.
Heartlands Institute of Technology
Heartlands offers 10 programs and operates with a Vocational Education Millage. Students have an opportunity to participate in real world learning environment. The purpose of Heartlands Technical Education Center is to provide students with the skills, attitudes, and experiences that enable them to enter the work force and/or post-secondary education or training after high school with greater success.
Technology
Ionia County ISD hosts the server environment for the Skyward Student Information System & the NewWorldK12 Financial Software used by the LEA’s within the service area of the ISD. Internet connectivity is also provided to four of the nine LEA’s, in addition to the units of government for the County and City of Ionia. Direct Technology Support is provided to four of the nine LEA’s.
Business Office
The Business Office provides Payroll, Bookkeeping, Budgeting and Grant Management for Ionia County ISD as well as 4 rural school districts. They also provide Payroll and Business Management services to one K - 12 LEA.

Ionia County Intermediate School District is seeking a strong passionate leader who can be described as follows:

v Able to maintain the present strengths of the District, including the high degree of teamwork, collaboration, and participatory management practices that are in place among the employees;
v A team player who supports, delegates and empowers others to reach their highest degree of potential effectiveness;
v A sincere interest in working cooperatively with local districts and community leaders within the greater Ionia County area;
v Ability to articulate a vision and engage others in the process to achieve agreed upon goals;
v Understands the mission and the role of the ISD and has a desire to seek ways in which services and programs for all students can be enhanced and improved;
v Has a proven record of success in various administrative capacities and understands special education programs as well as sound financial management practices;
v Experience as a local (K-12) superintendent desirable;
v Highly visible and vested in the community;
v Possesses a minimum of a Master’s Degree plus 30 credit hours in an appropriate, related field preferred.

Salary and Contract
The Board will offer a compensation package that will be comprehensive, competitive and negotiable, based upon qualifications and experience.
