POSITION: Residential House Parents / Teachers

AGAPE YOUTH MINISTRY (AYM) is a nondenominational Christian, faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit Arizona corporation. The mission of AYM is to help hurting at-risk teen boys through hands-on Christian-based programs. AYM established the AGAPE YOUTH RANCH ACADEMY, which is located in southeast Arizona at the base of the Chiricahua Mountains. Currently, the AYR Academy has openings for the Residential House Parents or Leader / Teacher positions.

Qualifications required for this position include, but are not limited to:

Ø Due to the Ranch Academy Programs currently being focused on male teens, this position could be filled by a mature, established married couple (highly desired), or by a single adult male houseparent. In the event of a couple, the man will serve as the primary houseparent to the boy students, while his wife would serve in other capacities of need at the Ranch, such as teaching/facilitating in the A.C.E. Program (or assisting), food services, or other needs of service;

Ø A High School Diploma required; some college or a degree preferred;

Ø You are a born-again Christian, well-grounded in the Bible and actively living your faith;

Ø Financial stability, i.e., having ample funds to provide for your needs or having the capability of raising missionary support, as these positions are primarily self-supporting. AYM provides housing & basic utilities to staff members, and may provide a monthly stipend (if needed);

Ø You have a God-given desire to work with and help change the lives of struggling teens;

Ø You have parenting and/or mentoring skills / experience;

Ø You have a solid family orientation on which to draw when modeling this value to teens;

Ø Strong teaching/mentorship skills, and spiritual leadership;

Ø Good communication skills, friendly, and a cooperative, dependable team player;

Ø Able to be very flexible in his/her duties and responsibilities (willing to wear many “hats,” as may be needed);

Ø Would enjoy working & living on a working horse ranch in a rural environment;

Ø Ability to work under authority (Ranch Academy Director and/or Ministry’s CEO);

Ø Must pass a background and drug test.

v NOTE: A minimum of a two (2) year commitment is required.

The position includes, but is not limited to: coordinating the teens' activities & recreation, working with & helping other staff members, facilitating / participating in Bible studies, mentoring teens through schooling, personal problems and challenges, as well as applying tough love at times, and enforcing rules and policies of AYR, which may entail assigning consequences for teen offenders. The position includes scheduled facilitating (teaching) the Accelerated Christian Education program (A.C.E.), www.aceministries.com, for a small group of teens.

COMPENSATION: This is a self-supporting position, where the successful candidate will be joining us on the “ground floor” of implementing the At-Risk Teens’ Residential Academy Program. Housing & basic utilities are provided to staff members. A negotiated monthly stipend may be provided to help meet living expenses (if needed).
