A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Ralph L. Boling.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Ralph L. Boling, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Ralph L. Boling was born on August 18, 1928, a native of Hancock County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on September 27, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Ralph L. Boling was the loving son of the late Claud and Leva Richards Boling; he was the devoted husband of 54 years to Dortha Edge Boling; he was the loving father of a daughter, Carol Boling Williams, and a son, Wayne L. Boling, both of Lewisport; and he was the proud grandfather of a granddaughter, LeAnn Boling Crosby of Bowling Green; and he also leaves behind two loving brothers, Russell Boling and Claud Boling Jr., both of Owensboro; and

WHEREAS, Ralph L. Boling served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Ralph L. Boling was an esteemed member of the Hancock County community, where he was a member of Blackford Baptist Church, and also where his funeral was held on September 30, 2004; he was a man of many talents; he was an auctioneer, an oil well driller, Hancock County road foreman, and he served as superintendent of Hawesville Water Works; he was twice elected sheriff of Hancock County, and he was appointed the United States Marshal for the Western Kentucky District for 12 years; he served as Hancock County judge-executive from 1994-98; he was instrumental in establishing the Hancock County Career Center, and along with the Hancock Fiscal Court, he dealt decisively with the crucial problem of closing the county's landfill; and

WHEREAS, Ralph L. Boling was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and he was a member of Hancock Lodge No. 115, where he also served as past district deputy; and

WHEREAS, it is with fond recollection that we remember Ralph L. Boling, not only for his many accomplishments and friendships that he made and sustained throughout his years of dedicated public service, but also for his compassion for and understanding of the common man, which he demonstrated daily; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Ralph L. Boling has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow at the passing of Ralph L. Boling, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Ralph L. Boling.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Dortha Edge Boling, 74 Davies Street, Hawesville, Kentucky 42348.
