A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of Clarence D. "C.D." Noland, Jr.

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., was a son of this Commonwealth, having been born in Lee County on June 11, 1937, the cherished son of the late Clarence D. Sr. and Amanda Fike Noland; and

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., was a proud member of the Kentucky Army National Guard who retired as a Master Sergeant after 31 years of service; and

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., was a retired employee of the CSX Corporation; and

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., was a former Kentucky State Representative who dutifully served the citizens of the 84th House District from 1981 to 1996. In that capacity he served as Minority House Caucus Chair and Vice Chair of the Appropriations and Revenue and Transportation Committees; and

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., was an active member of his community, serving on many charitable and civic communities throughout his life. He served for 16 years on the Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital Board, and in 2006 he was the recipient of the Kentucky Hospital Association's Healthcare Governance Award. He served two terms as president of the Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Club and was named Kiwanian of the Year nationally in 1987. He was a member of the Natural Bridge Park Association and the Bluegrass Area Development District Transportation Board and was inducted into the 6th District Republican Hall of Fame. He was past president of the Estill County Development Alliance and a member of the Irvine Masonic Lodge #137 F&AM, and was twice named Mason of the Year; and

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., departed this earthly life on December 15, 2014, leaving his family, friends, and an entire Commonwealth in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, C.D. Noland, Jr., was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Noland. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Bobby Carol Noland; his children, Jennifer and Phil Cherry and Dr. Thomas and Sharon Noland; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Caroline Noland; his brother, W.J. and Phyllis Noland; his sisters, Doris and Bob McCray, Jewell and Jasper Castle, and Wilma Pugh; and numerous nieces and nephews;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The members of the House of Representatives hereby express their most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of their esteemed former colleague Clarence D. Noland, Jr., and extend their most sincere condolences to his family, friends, and community in this time of loss.

âSection 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Clarence D. Noland, Jr.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Greg Stumbo for delivery.
