SkyPoint Media Release

One of the Gold Coast’s newest adventure attractions, SkyPoint Climb won the Queensland Tourism Awards category for New Tourism Development at a prestigious ceremony in Brisbane last night.

Australia’s tallest external building walk, located atop the Q1 building, SkyPoint Climb was pitted against the likes of Hilton Hotel Surfers Paradise and North Queensland Adventure Kayak Tours who took out the Highly Commended mention.

SkyPoint Chief Executive Officer, Todd Coates, accepted the award noting that SkyPoint Climb is a fantastic new addition to the Gold Coast region receiving incredibly positive feedback from participants.

“Since its launch we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from our guests about both the SkyPoint Climb experience and the wonderful staff that create that experience for our guests,” said Mr Coates

“A great starting point for any Gold Coast holiday, SkyPoint Climb showcases the destination as much as it does the many incredible tourism experiences and attractions that exist in the South East Queensland corner.”

“SkyPoint Climb offers a truly unique and spectacular 360 degree view of one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations. At 270 metres above sea-level it is thoroughly exhilarating,” said Mr Coates.

An awe-inspiring open air adventure, SkyPoint Climb is a 90 minute, full-guided, experience allowing a maximum of 10 guests per group to walk among the clouds and admire 360 degree views of Queensland’s beautiful South East region.

Starting on the ground floor at Mission Control, Climbers receive a safety briefing before being fitted with their full body Climb suit and harness and journeying to SkyPoint Observation Deck, 230 metres above the ground.

Walking along the glass crown which frames the top of the Q1, Climbers can enjoy the security of an internal hand rail that guides them up to the summit whilst the more daring walk along the edge of the Climb experiencing the heart racing thrill of a 270 metre sheer vertical drop. Along the way, the Climb Leader highlights major landmarks and shares some of the region’s best kept secrets.

The Climb’s summit is located 270 metres above sea level where guests take an extended pause to experience the 360 degree surrounds from the Climb’s highest vantage point.

After returning back to SkyPoint Observation Deck, Climbers can enjoy some time on the inside of the glass, continuing to admire 360 degree views of the Gold Coast offered by SkyPoint, with the option to relax with a coffee or a meal, freshly prepared by one of SkyPoint’s Chefs.

Climbers take home unforgettable mementos including a complimentary group photograph, a signature SkyPoint Climb Cap, and a Climb Certificate.

SkyPoint Climbs are available throughout the day and at Twilight and recently have included an option to package a Climb with a meal.

“The whole experience was the most perfect, well-planned surprise proposal ever! I had no idea that Matt’s Climb Suit had an engagement ring carefully attached to it. And of course, I was completely surprised when he asked me to marry him at the summit! It was a magical moment for us and the best part was that Megan captured it all on camera! A huge thank you to everyone involved! Our SkyPoint Climb was an unforgettable experience!” – Venessa, Qld
