Paperwork

At the beginning of the year each family received a number of forms that needed to be checked, filled out and sent back to school. There are quite a few of these forms outstanding. Please return the forms by the end of this week so we can update our records. (Student details, Internet agreement form, consent form)

Make every day count in 2014

Make 2014 the year when your child doesn’t miss a day of school. Research shows that students who have good patterns of attendance are more likely to achieve at school. If students aren’t at school or don’t stay the whole day, they are missing valuable lessons. Check out the new Every Day Counts videos live on DETE TV.

If your child is absent from school you must let the school know the reason for the absence. You can notify us of student absences through:

Home Reading/ Home Work

Thank you for your support, enthusiasm and positive feedback for our new homework program. Our main goal for the year is to focus on reading and the children understanding what they have read. When children are able to read and understand what they have read they can work a lot better in all other subject areas.

Tuckshop

The tuckshop menu was sent home last week. Tuckshop will begin this week. Tuckshop orders must be in on Tuesday of each week.

Uniform Orders

We are pleased with the high percentage of students who are wearing full school uniform. Thank you for making sure your child comes to school each day dressed in the uniform. Please remember that the uniform is school shirt, maroon coloured shorts/skirt and white socks. Dangly jewellery or coloured nail polish are not allowed.

Great Results Guarantee

Our school will receive additional funding from the Great Results Guarantee and we need to decide how we can use this money to better support our students and improve their outcomes.

We are now working to develop our own Great Results Guarantee with evidence-based strategies and actions to improve literacy and numeracy.

If you have an idea on a way to support our students to learn more or if you would like to take part in the discussion please get in touch.

A message from our School Chaplain

Welcome back to school, it is lovely to see all your smiling faces again. I trust that you all had fun during the break away and have enjoyed catching up with some familiar faces here at school.

Just like last year, I am at Mt Tarampa each Monday and Tuesday. I am available for a chat for students, parents and all members of our school community, if the need arises.

Please call the school office on 5427 9208 or send me an email.

I am happy to also make time, on other days, by arrangement to meet and chat.

Keep Smiling,

Rebecca Hewett

P&C AGM

The AGM for the P&C will be held on Thursday 27 February at 3.15pm. Agenda items for the meeting include election of office bearers for 2014, Great Results Guarantee and P&C Constitution changes. Everyone is invited to attend.

Learning Support

At Mt Tarampa we value your child’s education. Part of what we do is to provide individual support for students who are struggling with their work. Each fortnight the staff have a meeting to discuss the learning needs of the students. If a student is experiencing difficulty with their work whether it be understanding a new concept, completing the task, needing extra time or support to finish something or missed work due to illness they are referred for support. Children who are referred for support work with staff (Mrs Manz -Support Teacher Literacy and Numeracy, Mrs Else, Mrs Hewitt, Mrs Muir) in small groups and one-on-one situations to target their area of need. Some support programs are ongoing for example speech programs while other levels of support are short term. Our support timetable is flexible and reviewed fortnightly so we can cater for the needs of each student in our school.
