8th Grade Theme Park Commercial

The multimedia project will incorporate still pictures of Theme Park rides included in your Map of Theme Park, use of video editing software, possible use of photo editing software and use of voice overlay. The scope and sequence are as follows:

Days 1-4: Project Overview Create Movie (March 6, 7, 8, 9)

Research the internet and find example photos of park rides that are a part of your Map of Theme Park. A minimum of 6 pictures and a maximum of 10 pictures are allowed for the movie. Place pictures in the Theme Park Picture folder under the Theme Park folder. At least one of the pictures must have you placed in it. Use your green screen image and www.pixlr.com to edit the photo and then resave it and place it in the commercial. You will also need to include a Title Slide and Concluding Slide. This means you will have 8 to 12 slides in your movie.

Creating a Movie in Windows Live Movie Maker

1.  Open a new Windows Live Movie Maker Project (Charms Menu/Apps Search/Type Movie/Select Windows Live Movie Maker)

2.  Step 1 of Live Movie Maker on Right Side:

a.  Drag photos here or Click to browse for them.

b.  Go to the Theme Park folder use Shift and →↓ or Ctrl and Click to highlight pictures of you for the movie.

c.  Click Open

d.  The pictures will now appear in your timeline at the right side of your window.

3.  Drag and drop the pictures in the correct order for your movie.

4.  Changing slide duration

a.  Change the Picture slide durations to 10 seconds for all captioned pictures (Edit Tab/Duration Box)

5.  Adding Captions to all slides (OPTIONAL)

a.  Click on the first slide

b.  Home Tab/Add Group/ Select Add Caption Button

c.  Remember More Options:

i.  Change the Caption animation (Text Tools/Format Tab/Effects Group)

ii. Change the text font and color (Text Tools/Format Tab/Font Group)

d.  Repeat Direction 5 for each picture in your movie.

6.  Adding a Credits to the end.

a.  Click on the last slide and add credits to the end by doing the following:

b.  Home Tab/Add Group/Select Add Title Button

c.  Remember More Options:

i.  Change the title animation (Text Tools/Format Tab/Effects Group)

ii. Change the text font and color (Text Tools/Format Tab/Font Group)

7.  Adding Narration

a.  Home Tab/Record Narration

b.  Put Play head at the beginning or your movie

c.  Click Record and narrate your movie by watching the Play head.

d.  Click Stop and save narration to you Theme Park Folder

8.  Save the project file in your Theme Park folder!

THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FILE YET, BUT JUST A PROJECT FILE. THIS IS THE ONLY FILE THAT YOU CAN USE TO EDIT YOUR MOVIE BEFORE SAVING! IT IS A LIVE MOVIE MAKER PROJECT FILE! IF YOU SEE ERRORS IN THE MOVIE YOU MUST FIX THEM BY OPENING THE LIVE MOVIE MAKER PROJECT FILE, FIXING THE ERRORS, AND CONVERTING THE MOVIE AS A WMV FILE.

9.  Converting to a Video

a.  Blue Menu Button/Click the Save Movie drop down button/Select for Computer

b.  Goto your Theme Park Folder

c.  Change file name to your first and last name as the name of your movie (ex. Todd Geerdes)

Day 5: Finishing PowerPoint (March 13)

Final PowerPoint Project Consists of the Following:
Slide 1: Title Slide with Theme Park Name, Days the Park is Open, Hours of Operation and Address

Slide 2: Map of Theme Park Slide 3: Table of Contents Slide 4: Commercial Slide 5: Links to Charts

DON’T DO THIS ON ANY SLIDES THAT YOU ARE ADDING IN TRIMMED VIDEO CLIPS FROM THE INTERNET.

Click on Slide 1 and under Animations Tab/Advance Slide/Uncheck On Mouse Click/Check Automatically After and Set time to 10 Seconds + the length of your trimmed ripped video.
Click on Slide 2 and under Animations Tab/Advance Slide/Uncheck On Mouse Click/Check Automatically After and Set time to 15 Seconds.

Click on Slide 3 and under Animations Tab/Advance Slide/Uncheck On Mouse Click/Check Automatically After and Set time to 15 Seconds.
Slide 4 length will be the same as you movie length.
Slide 5 will have no timing length set.

  1. Insert Movie into Slide 4 of your final PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Open your final PowerPoint Project, click on Slide 4, click on the Insert Tab/Media Group
  3. Choose Video on my PC then insert your movie from the Theme Park folder.
  4. Click on movie in slide, resize to full size of slide
  5. Save the Final PowerPoint to your Theme Park folder as your first and last name
  6. Copy the PowerPoint file called first and last name and Theme Park Name (ex. Todd Geerdes Camelot) under your Theme Park folder, go to the Apps drive and paste it into the I: Mr. Geerdes and your computer class period. Don’t copy the Movie Maker File or delete it!

2.  Adding Appropriate Video Clip (30 Seconds Max.)

a.  Home Tab/Add Group/Add Videos and Photos Button

  1. Choose the MP4 or WMV file from your Theme Folder
  2. Use www.ssyoutube

Days 7-9: Present PowerPoint (March 15, 20, 21)

Each student will show their PowerPoint presentation to their class.
