This is a small family business providing precision machined and specialty wood products to industrial customers. I joined this company specifically to reduce the back log of orders to a manageable level, with the intent to take on temporary contract engineering work when the volume of work was reduced. With aggressive physical effort on manual machinery, attention to detail, and careful planning Startring at approximately 115% over capacity the level of work was reduced to the target of 75% until finally dropping off to the current 30%. My duties are diverse with the intent to learn all aspects of the business including manufacturing, administration, and the craftsmanship required to perform and ultimately supervise all jobs. During periods of lean business I took outside positions in manufacturing, with Associated Spring, in CAD Software Sales with DAA Inc. and with Caddedge Inc.

6/95 - 6/97. Film Fibers Div. Ensign Bickford Industries. Simsbury, CT.

Sr. Mechanical Engineer: Hired to maintain and improve a synthetic fibers manufacturing operation and supervise mechanics team. Redesigned existing textile machines using 3D AutoCad for increased through put and higher product quality also improving the manufacturing work environment. Specified and purchased or had fabricated new equipment, generated capitol requests and cost justification, Directed outside services and in-house trades for installation of new equipment. Established a working PM plan with documentation suitable for achieving certification in the ISO 9000 system.

2/92 - 6/95. Associated Spring, The Barnes Group, Bristol, CT.

Process Engineer (2/92-9/93); Product Engineer (9/93-6/95): Introduced two new automated manufacturing lines for processing automotive springs for Honda and other Japanese customers increasing sales by 10%(approx. $2.5 million). Wrote capitol justification & specification of equipment, directed skilled tradesmen for in house equipment start up. Quoted new jobs. Interfaced with foreign customer interface for clarification of prints & specifications. Trained in D.O.E. Taguchi Methods, manufacturing statistics and ProEngineer computer aided design software. (6/99-12/99) Contract Engineer: returned to develop process and tooling for a fourth automated production line. Finalized process specifications and delivered initial product samples ahead of schedule.

1/91 - 2/92. Farmington Displays Inc. Farmington, CT.

Designer for components of Industrial Trade Show displays & advertising signs. Trained myself in the use of AutoCad design software for 2-D and 3-D design. Used in-house CAM software for direct down load of machine code to run a multi axis router machining center. I also functioned as a production machine operator to produce components on multi-axis router.

8/88 –1 /92. Technipress Systems Inc. Burlington, CT.

Independent Sales Rep. for several metal stamping equipment manufacturers. Territory: The New England states. Work focus was the retrofit and upgrading of mechanical power press controls. Duties included outside sales (70% cold calls, 30% leads approx.), Field-engineering, hands on service maintenance, installation of die and machine monitoring systems for process automation and Customer training on equipment and OSHA regulations.

2/86 - 8/88. Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, United Technologies Corp. E. Hartford, CT.

Manufacturing Engineer: Responsible for creating & maintaining process documentation on a CAD/CAM system for several jet engine parts. Completed a two-year training program which included short-term positions in R&D, Tool Design, (Anvil4000 & ComputerVision) and a shop floor foreman responsible for 25 union represented personnel. I also worked in a technical outreach program to area high schools to give presentations to encourage students to pursue a technical college education.

12/85- Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT.

Ski Instructor: Full time during ’85 season, several part time seasons since. Teach beginning, intermediate and advanced lessons to groups & individuals ranging in age from preschool to senior citizens.
