Key Skills Gained:

  • Verify that Bank notes in the teller’s box are piled correctly and that all transaction receipts are sorted out in sequential order and bundles safely in the Safe.
  • Ensure that that the teller’s till is closed when the day ends and that the bank notes are balanced in the presence of the teller which should tally with the teller’s closing reports.
  • Ensure that each tellers receipt has the teller’s stamp, client’s signature and the NRC number. Also ensure that I authorise any transaction that are above K5, 000 and sign.
  • I also have to ensure that I carry out random cash count at the till of which if I found a shortage or a surplus it is my duty to investigate the discrepancy after of which the teller should write an incident report and I regularise it if no trace has been found with the instruction of the operations management.
  • I have to ensure that the branch and tellers till does not exceed its cash limits, Hence my responsibility to notify Management and offload the cash to the Bank with the help of Security.
  • It is also my duty that I carry out SAFE counts in case there discrepancies that cannot be resolved so I inform operations management.

Key Achievements:
  • Helped execute a Water Sanitation and Hygiene behaviour change effectiveness questionnaire to help gain data for hygiene behaviour in every household so as to be used to improve future related projects interventions effectiveness in Zambia.
  • Assisted in planning activities for the office in relation to improving lives for people in Lufwanyama District through field activities such as self-empowerment and monitored and supported Savings Groups such as SILC groups.
  • Advised people of Lufwanyama District on how to save and manage their funds through disbursing soft loans amongst themselves from the savings each group saved in order to keep their funds growing.
  • Assisted in report writing after every activity such as cooperative workshops, savings groups share outs meetings.
  • Assisted in the filling of names of children under the STEP- OVC programme.

Key Skills Gained:

  • From the skills I acquired at World Vision, I ‘am able to conduct entrepreneurial and cooperative workshops.
  • Other than conducting workshops, I ‘am also able to write reports after conducting a workshop.
  • Others skills I gained includes: using the Community- based Prevention Information System( COPIS ) software when entering data for the orphans and vulnerable children (STEPS OVC) as World Vision looks at the wellbeing of children.
  • Apart from knowledge acquired from University, through World Vision I was able to carry out questionnaires and write up a research paper as a team.
  • I also gained a skill on how to reach out to the young ones through a short course on child Evangelism.

Key Achievements:
  • During my attachment at Tiger Animal Feed I was assisted in testing samples of different raw materials in the Laboratory. The different raw materials came in tracks of which I had to test all of them for feed production and also ensure that the activities such as moisture content, temperature levels for soya cake during processing were monitored through testing the samples.
  • Assisted in the counting by tallying how many bags of raw materials for each product came in the plant.
  • Assisted in selling the finished product of feed to customers and ensuring that the receipts were issued on time and the products were released at the dispatch office, respectively.

Key Skills Gained:

  • I gained the skill of how to test for samples and use an NIR system and other Laboratory instruments to test for nutrient content in raw materials before they were used for feed processing.
  • During my attachment with Tiger Animal Feed I learned how to use SAGE software in the sales Department when customers come to buy the feed.
  • I also gained skill in time management as well as how to tally and pack sacks in stacks of raw materials in the Warehouse.
  • IT & Computing. Experienced user of computer applications which include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, outlook, publisher, internet and statistical packages such as SPSS and STATA. Also able to use organisational systems such as SAF 2000 SAGE.
