Georg Dax foundation distributes 40,000 euros
80 students with outstanding marks
“In our training programme at Kathrein, we attach great importance to our trainees having a strong will to learn and enough perseverance to keep on studying after their initial training has been completed,“ emphasised Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Anton Kathrein during this year’s Georg Dax Prize ceremony. At the event, the chairman of the Georg Dax foundation could be certain that his audience definitely fulfilled these requirements: 80 students achieved brilliant final marks this year and were rewarded for their efforts with 500 euros each.
This year, the foundation distributed a total of 40,000 euros. “Learning is worth it!“, affirmed Prof. Dr. Kathrein. He added, “In life, it is more important to be happy with the career you have chosen, to be respected in this career and to enjoy doing your job than to just to have money and a high salary.” This year’s honourees included three secondary-school students with perfect 1.0 grade averages: Viktoria Hofbauer, Anna Reis and Nicole Trebesius (all of the Ignaz-Günther-Gymnasium Rosenheim).

“Georg Dax Foundation”
Performance pays off: 80 x 500 euros for exceptional students
The Georg Dax foundation was established by Margrit Dax in 1997 in memory of her deceased husband Georg Dax, who passed away in 1988. The aim of the foundation was to award a bonus to students who had written particularly excellent diploma theses. One year later, in 1998, the foundation’s field of activities was broadened; from then on, bonuses were also to be given to the best school students in a graduating class.
The award is given to top-class graduates of careers that are also offered at Rosenheim’s KATHREIN-Werke KG. Chairman of the foundation is the Rosenheim entrepreneur Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Anton Kathrein.
Founder Margrit Dax, passed away on 8th March 2003, at age 88. The foundation’s original capital originated from her private assets. Georg Dax was a close friend and fully authorised representative of Ing. Anton Kathrein, the founder of KATHREIN-Werke KG, and was godfather and “uncle“ of the current owner of the company, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Anton Kathrein.
Up to this day, the foundation has distributed a total of 371,803.55 euros for outstanding academic efforts. An additional 94,000 euro sum has been donated to the Friends and Patron’s Society of the Rosenheim’s University of Applied Sciences whose recipients are those who write outstanding diploma theses; this amounts to more than 465,000 euros over the years.
