CBS/Paradise Food Bank

The CBS/Paradise Food Bank is once again preparing for the Annual Christmas Food donations to families in the area that need their support. This year they have experienced an increase in families using the Food Bank and anticipate about 350 families will receive support this year. This support comes with each family receiving a turkey plus a Food Certificate to cover other necessary foods for the Christmas period. Families of 3 to 4 will receive food to the value of $75.00, and that would be higher for larger families.

Our Parish of St. John the Evangelist, is responsible for 30 families this Christmas and we are responsible to provide the funds to cover the costs of these hampers. Members of the Parish can once again give to this cause by giving a donation with their weekly giving, in a plain envelope marked “Food Bank” and containing your name and envelope number in order for your donation to be credited to your account. The Parish will keep account of these donations and issue a check to the Food Bank to cover all donations received. The deadline for receiving donations is December 15th. We thank you for your generosity.

Confirmation Classes

Will begin in January 2018. You can register your child by calling the parish office @ 834-2336 Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Registration deadline is December 15th

Admiral Coast Services

St. John the Evangelist will be holding services at Admirals Coast on the following Sundays: December 3rd. February 4th, March 4th, April 1st, May 6th and June 3rd. You are welcome to attend.

Direct Deposit

We are looking for more families to consider this convenient way of contributing. Signing-up is simple. Just visit the Church Office or pick up a form at the back of the church, complete the Authorization Form, attach a cancelled cheque and we’ll do the rest. Please give this careful consideration. Pre-authorized contributions will allow you more convenience and allow us to better manage our finances throughout the year. If you have any specific questions, please contact the parish office at 834-2336.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our services. We are well into our Advent journey now as we travel along with Mary and Joseph. For many this season is a busy one and you can get weighed down with burdens and heavy loads. Mary and Joseph were surely carrying much in their hearts as they traveled. They were summoned to travel when Mary was very pregnant, they had to walk in all kinds of conditions and long days that turned into night. All the while they didn't know where they would stay once they arrived, they just prayed and hoped there would be a place for them. We know how the story goes, we know the difficulties they faced. We also know what happened that night so long ago and how the world was changed when Love entered the world in a new form. Despite what you yourself may be carrying with you this Advent season may you keep the reminder of that Love that is coming soon, that love that will change us all and promises to always be with us. That Love that knows no bounds, bares our loads and carries us through. Keep with me on this journey, for we are about to receive the greatest gift we can ever imagine.

Every Blessing
