Conference Duration and Venue

The 7th Islamic Countries Conference on Statistical Sciences (ICCS-VII) will be held from Tuesday, January 2 through January 5, 2001 at The University of Lahore, 1-k.m. Raiwind Road, Lahore, Pakistan.

The Inauguration Ceremony of the Conference will take place on Tuesday January 2, 2001 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm at University Campus, Lahore.

A reception by the University of Lahore will be hosted at 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. after Inauguration Ceremony.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The organizers of the ICCS-VII have the pleasure of inviting scientists engaged in statistically oriented research work to contribute papers for presentation in the Conference.

The dead line for the abstract is October 20, 2000 to be included in the Pre-Conference Proceedings. The full length papers should reach Conference Secretariat by November, 20, 2000. The typing instructions shall be mailed with the acceptance letter.

The ICCS-VII will publish all invited and contributed papers that are presented at the Conference.

Technical Equipment

Overhead projectors will be available for authors at each meeting. Authors wishing to use other equipment such as slide projector should contact the Secretariat well in advance.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the Conference will be English. Authors to use Arabic/ French/Russian may contact the Secretariat not later than November 15, 2000.

PARTICIPATION

The ICCS is open to all nationalities.

Registration

Persons interested in attending the Conference are requested to complete and return the attached Registration Form together with the registration fee. The Secretariat has no arrangements to accept Credit Cards.

The Registration Desk will be opened in the Conference Secretariat at The University of Lahore, 1-k.m. Raiwind Road, Lahore (PAKISTAN) at the following timings:

At the Registration Desk, the delegates who have paid their registration fee will receive a name badge, a set of invited and contributed papers, a list of registered participants, a final program, invitation cards and tickets for social events and excursions.

Passport and Visas

All foreign visitors entering Pakistan must have a valid Passport and Visa.

Currency Exchange and Banking Services

All banks are open from Monday through Saturday from 9.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. except on Friday & Saturday (9.00 a.m. to 12.00 Noon) Secretariat will assist in exchanging currency at the Conference venue.

Climate

Lahore will have winter with a temperature ranging 10C to 20C. At times, it might rain. Weather will be cold. Warm clothing will be required.

Electricity

Electricity supplies in Pakistan 220 volts, 50 Hz.

Reception at Airports

Conference booth will be placed at Lahore International Airport. In case, guidance is required, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will provide information for transit and connecting flights or contact Conference Secretariat. At Lahore Airport, limousines are available at reasonable rates.

Lahore is an international airport directly connected with many major cities and capitals. Passengers coming through any other route can reach Lahore via Karachi or Islamabad International Airports. Islamabad is only 300 km from Lahore and Karachi is about 1200 km. Karachi is connected with almost all capitals of the world.

SIZE AND STYLE: The articles should be typed in 5” x 7.5” measurements (i.e. width = 5”, height 7.5”). Matter of all types should be typed in Times New Roman (10-points medium). However, all headings should be bold, with main headings in UPPER CASE and centered, while sub-heads be in Upper Lower case and left justified.

ARTICLES ON FLOPPIES: Articles supplied on floppies should be typed in accordance with the instructions These should preferably be typed either in TEX/LATEX or in WinWord 2, 6 or above. Running titles should be inserted to print on the top of the page in the following manner:

First Page: No running title, only page number in the bottom centre, 0.25” away from the bottom line of the page.

Even Page: Page no. left justified, Author (s) name right justified.

Odd Page: Article’s caption, left justified Page No. right justified.

Running title should print 0.25” away from the top line of the page.

ABSTRACT: Each paper is required to contain an abstract, which should not exceed 200 words.

PAPER: Each section and formula should be numbered in Arabic numbers including acknowledgement and references. Footnotes and explanations in parentheses should be avoided as far as possible. Paper should be typed double spaced. Title should be as concise as possible.

KEY WORDS: Key Words used in the paper are required and should be given following the abstract.

FIGURE AND TABLES: Each figure, diagram and table should be prepared on separate pages with proper titles and numbers on top of figures and tables.

FORMULAE: Standard notations should be used. Symbols like ‘one’ and ‘ell’, ‘kappa’ and ‘kay’, ‘o’ and ‘zero’ etc. should be properly distinguished. In case of confusion, the letter should be described in the margins. Superscripts, subscripts and subscripts should be in different sizes.

REFERENCES: References should be listed at the end of the paper serially. No reference should be listed unless cited in the text of the paper. The references should be typed double spaced and should follow the style:
