7th Grade Mathematics Requirements

Dear Students,

The following are classroom requirements for a successful year in your Mathematics class. Please keep this in the front of your binder, or in your folder.

Classroom Expectations

  • Attend class daily and on time.
  • Be prepared with a notebook, pencils and completed homework.
  • Be respectful.
  • Participate in class. Right or wrong answers are accepted. Questions are encouraged.
  • Practice math skills- inside the classroom(daily tasks/classwork) and outside the classroom(homework/projects).

Classroom Procedures

  • Enter the classroom promptly and quietly.
  • Take out necessary supplies and your homework.
  • Complete the “Do Now” on the front board- when it is complete, wait for further instructions.
  • If you have a question, raise your hand. Do not call out.
  • The bell does not dismiss you- I do. Do not pack up your belongings until I tell you to.
  • If you need any supplies(pencil, sharpener, scrap paper), raise your hand and let me know what you need.
  • All phones, IPods, and any other electronic devices should be turned off and stored in your backpack.

Curriculum

Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include:

  • Ratios and Proportional Relationships
  • The Number System
  • Expressions and Equations
  • Geometry
  • Statistics and Probability

The textbook we are using this year is Core Connections Course 2.

Classwork/Homework

  • All work is to be done in pencil.
  • Depending on the assignment, work may be done individually, with a partner or in a group. I will determine how work will be completed.
  • Homework will be assigned daily. I will NOT accept late homework!
  • All assignments are to have the following heading:

  • Homework is to be done neatly on loose leaf paper or in your notebook and you are expected to show all work.
  • Homework may be spot checked or collected and graded.
  • If you are absent, you are responsible for the homework you missed.

Attendance

  • You are expected to be prompt on a daily basis
  • If you are absent, you are to check the appropriate folder for worksheets you may have missed.
  • If you are late to class, you must have a late pass. Please put the note on my desk and then quietly sit down and get to work. You will be responsible for any work you may have missed.

Grading Policy

  • Individual Tests/Projects: 30%
  • Team Tests: 10%
  • Quizzes/Graded Do Now’s: 20%
  • Homework: 20%
  • Class Participation: 20%
