- Class Content:
Welcome to 7th grade integrated science. This class focuses identifying and investigating relationships of cause and effect in various systems where energy and matter cycle. We will be investigating across the scientific disciplines of Physics, Biology, and Geology with the intent of teaching students how use their natural curiosity to ask questions about cause and effect relationships they discover, and how to obtain evidence to answer those questions.

There is an online textbook available at
The following materials are needed for class:
- A composition or spiral bound notebook (composition preferred)
- Folder or binder
- Pen or pencil
C. Homework
Most assignments and projects will be done in class, but may require finishing at home. We typically have a short set of analysis questions about the learning we did that day. Periodically, lab reports will be assigned as homework. These are write ups of experiments students design and perform in class. Occasionally, students will be asked to view instructional videos online in preparation for class.
D. Science Fair:Participation is optional
Students interested in participating in science fair will pick up a science fair packet by Sept. 1st. Participating students will meet weekly after school with Miss Walker according to the Science Fair Schedule to work on completing their project during Fall semester. Students have the opportunity to compete at the district level.
* I will be getting married in October, and my name will change to Jones.
E. Labs
Labs are a great learning tool when engaged appropriately and safely. In order to ensure their safety, all students must pass a safety quiz and turn in their signed safety contract before they can participate in lab activities. Students may loselab points and/or lab privileges for any behavior that jeopardizes safety and may receive administrative consequences as merited.
- Evaluation/ Grading
Grades will be based on academic work (assignments, quizzes, projects, tests). Citizenship will be based on classroom participation, work ethic, and behavior. All assignments must have the student’s name present in order to receive credit. Assessment of the student’s mastery may occur through traditional tests, or occasionally through oral presentations, performance tasks, or projects. Students are encouraged to correct work to raise their scores. Extra credit is not offered. Any cheating, such as talking during a test or plagiarism, will result in a zero as stated in the student handbook.
