RULESGOVERNINGTHEPLAYINGOFLEAGUEINGAUTENGNORTHFOR2013

1.Inordertoensuretheefficientandsmoothrunningofthegolf leagues,thefollowinggeneralrules,aswellasthoserulesapplicabletothevariousindividualleagues,wereformulatedandapprovedbytheclubsaffiliatedtotheUnion.

2.Allteamsmustadheretothehostclub’sdressregulations,bothonandoffthefieldofplay.Thismustbeestablishedbeforehand,aswellastheteeofftimes,thecaddiepolicy,drivengolfcarts,softspikesandanyothermattersparticulartothehostclub.

3.Team sheets, indicating the order of play must be completed beforecommencementofthematch.

4.Allteamsmustensurethattheresultsofthematchesareeither faxedore-mailedto theUnionofficebynotlaterthancloseof thenextbusinessday.

5.Playersmayonlyplayleaguefortheclubwheretheyarehandicapped.

6.Clubsenteringaleagueteammustensurethattheymeetalltheir leagueobligations.Intheeventofateamnotfulfillingitsleagueobligationonaspecificdate,theywillforfeittheirpointsand,afterreview,maynotbepermittedtoentersaidleagueinthefollowingseason.Inaddition,anyclubwhichdoeswithdrawfromaleagueobligationwithintheweekofsaidmatchwillberesponsibletothehostclubfortheplayingfees.

7.TheUnionorganizesandcontrolsleaguematchesforbothmenandwomen.

8.Clubsmaynotwithdrawtheirpre-arrangedvenueforleaguematches. TheUnionreservestherighttochangevenuesandpostpone matcheswheredeemednecessary.

9.Golf carts are not allowed in men’s premier scratch (1st League) or junior league, with the exception of games being played at cart only venues.

10.Allleaguematchesshallbeplayedunderthelocalrulesoftheclubwherethematchisbeingplayed.

11.GPSandlaserbeamswillbepermittedintheleagues.Aspertherecommendation

of SAGA, it is to be implemented as a local rule at club level, and as theleaguesareplayedunderthelocalrulesoftheclubs,playerswillhavetoensurewhethertheyarepermissibleornotbeforeteeingoffatallleaguematches.Anyelectronicdeviceusedisformeasuringdistanceonly.

12.AllleaguematchesaretobeplayedinaccordancewiththeRulesofGolfaslaiddownbytheRA.

13.Clubsshallstrive to reservethefirstteeofftimesforallleaguematches. TheexceptionbeingtheWomen’sThursdayLeaguematches,whicharetocommenceat8:00,unless otherwise arrangedwithmutualconsentofbothteams.

14.Clubs hosting league matches must allocate league times by name of club and when a club phones to confirm their tee off times, to fax the time sheet to the relevant person, if requested.

15.By mutual consent of both teams, players may play out of order, excluding junior league.

16.Where a club team is sponsored the members of the team may have on their uniformstheemblemoftheteamandthesmallnamesorlogosofeitherorboththesponsorandthemanufacturer.Thesponsor’sorthemanufacturer’snameorlogomustnotappearmorethanonceoneachgarmentandmustnotexceeda perimetermeasurementof220mm.

17.Anyplayer,teamorclubfoundtobeinbreachofthesegeneralrulesorthoseapplicabletothevariousleaguesshallbeguiltyofanoffence. AllsuchbreachesoftherulesshallbereferredtotheDisciplinary CommitteeoftheUnion,whichshallimposesuchpenaltieswhichareconsideredfitandappropriateforsuchanoffence.

18.ClubsmustfurnishtheUnionwiththenameandcontactdetailsofthecaptains/managersoftheir leagueteamsbeforethecommencementoftheleagueseason.

19.Intheeventofamatchnotbeingcompletedbecauseoftheweather,includingbadlight,thefollowingwillapply:

19.1.Any match where nine holes have not been completed will be replayed. A

date is to be set by the two captains and the Union office is to be notified.

19.2.Theresultofanyotherincompletematchwillbedecidedonthestatusofthematchwhenitwasofficiallyabandoned,provided nineholeshavebeencompleted.

20.PleasetakenotethatthefollowingwillapplyasperSAGAhandicappingsystem:allowthehigherhandicapplayerthefulldifferencebetweenthehandicapsofthetwoplayers.Theplayerwiththelowesthandicapineach2-or4-ballshallplayoffscratchwiththelowesthandicapthenbeingsubtractedfromtheremainderoftheplayers’handicaps.(Inthecaseofthelowesthandicapbeinga+thehandicapisaddedtothehandicapofallotherplayers.) Eachplayerontherelevantstrokehole then receives strokes.

21.IfgirlspartakeintheJuniorLeague,thennotemustbetakenthat,ifthemen’sstandardscratchscore(parofthecourse)islessthan the ladies’standardscratchscore(parofthecourse),theladies’handicapsshouldbeincreasedbythedifferencebetweenthestandard scratchscores(parofthecourse).Iftheladies’standardscratchscoreislessthanthemen’sstandardscratchscore(parofthecourse), the men’s handicaps should be increased by the difference betweenthestandardscratchscores(parofthecourse).

22.Play-offs: Noclubhavingtwoteamsinanyoneleaguemayplayplayersfromtheir other teamduring the knock-out rounds.

a.The winner ofaGroup, should there be a tie, will be determined as follows: The result between those two teams will determine the winner of the group. If their overall game count against one another is tied, the results of the number one players against each another, and if halved, the number two players, etc, shall be the decider.

b.During the Knock-out rounds, the winner will be determined as follows, should there be a tie:

i.Overall game count; and if still tied;

ii.a sudden-death play off between a nominated player/pair from each team.

23.Caddies:

a.Men: Where clubs allow, outside caddies may be used.

b.Women and Juniors: No outside caddies are permitted.

24.League Fees for 2013 shall be R120.00 per player.

25.Wherenovenueisstated,theclub’snamementionedfirst,isthevenue.

26.Senior Handicap and Mixed League: Noplayer is allowed to play off senior orforward tees, as the league is regarded as competitive golf.
