13.1 Atlanta Marathon Run/Walk – Street Grace

Street GRACE is a non-denominational alliance of churches dedicated to supporting, enlarging, and allying with those individuals and organizations working toward eliminating the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Runner/walkers will need to be able to complete a half marathon on 3.5 hours. Each runner/walker is being requested to raise $250/per person. Street Grace has set a goal of 50-75 participants with the proceeds going toward non-profits in the field. Each runner/walker will be given a special Street Grace t-shirt to wear the day of the race. Volunteers will cheer on the Street Grace running team. Each cheerer will be provided with a special Street Grace t shirt to wear the day of the race. This is to create awareness around the issue of the commercial sexual exploitation of children and also to encourage our runners/walkers. If you are loud, can yell and cheer, this event is for you!

The mission of A Beacon of Hope is to provide life-affirming counsel and care for crisis pregnancies through Christian compassion and discipleship. Their model of care is a 3 year program designed to support and empower abortion vulnerable women, men and their babies. Volunteers will be working on building a patio, with an arbor to enhance the counseling, programming and training environment on the property. We will be planting shrubs and trees around the patio. Also, volunteers will be cleaning out an adjacent wooded area of debris and brush. Bring shovels, trimmers, hammers and gloves. Volunteers must be 14 years old. Bethany Christian Services has found adoptive and foster care homes for thousands of children. They seek to serve adoptive and foster families and their children. Volunteers will help fill Foster Care bags for children who are suddenly put into foster care. Volunteers are asked to bring immediate need items which will be packed into a backpack that will be used for a child who is suddenly placed into foster care. Suggested items are underwear, pajama’s, shorts, shirts, or school clothes, wipes, babywash, tear-free shampoo, toothpaste, activity book, stuffed animals, and backpacks. Items should be new. Volunteers will help create Birthmother Keepsake Boxes filling them with personal items and a handmade keepsake bracelet, which are presented to the birthmothers on your behalf. E ach one is told of your respect for her sacrifice and your prayers for her. Volunteers are asked to bring items for a mom such as a small picture frame, candle, small journal, disposable camera, lotion. Chattahoochee Elementary School is a Gwinnett County Public School in the Duluth High cluster. Volunteers will perform general landscaping/clearing of the area around the school, cleaning of plastic playground equipment, and painting on the blacktop (please adults only for painting). Hands of Christ Duluth Cooperative seeks to utilize the resources o f the community as a Christian cooperative to glorify God and demonstrate Christ’s love by ministering to the material and spiritual needs of those in crisis. Apartment block parties are purposed to build community and share the gospel with the families in each complex. The apartment block parties offer serving opportunities for the entire family. Volunteers can expect a day of fun playing games, serving snacks, and sharing the gospel with these families. There will also be time to give out jeans and coats to the day laborers living in this complex. All block parties will start at Perimeter Church 9500 Medlock Bridge Rd. Volunteers will gather on the sidewalk in front of Autry Mill Middle School and pray as we hold signs (provided) saying “Pray to end Abortion”, “Jesus Forgives and Heals” and “Abortion Hurts Women”. This is a family friendly project and is suitable for all ages, strollers, wheelchairs. Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. You are welcome to bring chairs. This food drive will benefit the Norcross Co-op, a ministry dedicated to provide emergency assistance to families in the city of Norcross and the Gwinnett County. Volunteers will hand out lists of needed items to shoppers entering the store and ask them to purchase one or two items on the list to donate. Each of the first three shifts has 6 volunteer slots, and the last shift require 2 vans to load the donated food to take to the Norcross co-op.
