NEW SGROUP WORK GROUP ON EGRACONS

The Egracons (European Grade Conversion System) project implemented within the framework of the Lifelong Learning PRogramme (2012-2015) has been completed. It aimed to facilitate exchange mobility by working out a conversion system based on ECTS grade conversion tables as recommended in the EU's 2015 ECTS Users’ guide.

The Egracons project partners will continue their collaboration to implement the sustainability strategy set out in the attached document. They will jointly collaborate to ensure maximum visibility of the project, a helpdesk for HEIs on how to join the tool, and the awareness raising campaign on the improved understanding of different grading cultures across Europe.

A direct outcome of the project was to develop a grade conversion tool for a fair and objective assessment of mobility students' achievements. The tool is now available to all HEIs in Europe. To learn more about the project you can view To reach the Egracons Work Group you can write .

The project built up a wide-spread awareness and common understanding of the different grading systems in Europe and to enable an accurate interpretation of grades (or marks) given abroad, leading to a fair and manageable conversion of these grades to a local grade in the home institution. The results of the project are designed therefore to benefit students, academic staff, the administration and even future employers.

CALL OF INTEREST TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FEASIBILITY STUDY ‘MEASURING AND COMPARING ACHIEVEMENTS OF LEARNING OUTCOMES IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN EUROPE’ (CALOHEE)

We are pleased to invite the SGroup universities to participate in the project Measuring and Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Europe (CALOHEE) within the Erasmus+ project that the SGroup is a partner in.

The objective of the project, under the lead of the University of Groningen, aims at developing the infrastructure that will eventually make it possible to test bachelor and master students’ performance Europe-wide across a range of fields in a way that satisfies the needs of the various stakeholders in the European higher education community. Initially the project will cover five subject areas, representing five significant academic domains: Engineering (Civil Engineering), Health Care (Nursing), Humanities (History), Natural Sciences (Physics) and Social Sciences (Education). After this initial stage, the outcomes can be used to examine many other degree programmes as well.

The SGroup members have a unique opportunity to play an active role in this process by participating in the study and meetings organised within the framework of this project with their costs reimbursed.

One of the important goals of the study that is just being launched is to determine if students are in fact prepared for their role in society (personal development, citizenship and employability) after graduation, while also meeting the academic standards associated with their area of specialization.

The deadline for submitting your expression of interest is by 15th of January 2016.
