Dear Studentsand Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2016 – 2017 school year! It is my pleasure to be able to work with you this year. The sixth grade global studiescurriculum consists of investigating a variety of global issues that emanate (start) from human activities such as population change, migration, urbanization, culture and cultural diffusion, resource use, increased networks of trade and economic interdependence, and the interactions among nations. We’ll examine how various types of governments deal with issues that facing their cities or nations. This geography-based course introduces students to the physical and human geography of the world.

In order to create an interactive environment that is safe and supportive for all students, thereare classroom standards that must be met daily. Please read and review the guidelines below and sign the attached contract stating that you are going to be an active participant in your education.

Classroom Standards & Expectations

  • Group Agreements: We will agree on what rules we want to hold ourselves to during the first week of the year. We will review these as needed and add/take away from them throughout the year.
  • Planners: Your planner is an important tool to organize yourself. You are required to have it at all times
