Canada Project

Congratulations! You have been chosen by Canada’s Prime Minister Jean Chretien to create a travel brochure for one of the country’s political regions. This brochure is meant to convince travelers to consider this region when they are planning their vacations. Here are the important dates and information you need to complete the project.

Your brochure will be made using a tri-folded 8 ½” X 11” piece of paper, and should include the following:

§  Map - Show the capital city, other important cities, bodies of water, land forms, and any other important information. (max.5 points)

§  Regional Flag - Include a reproduction of the flag. (max. 5 points)

§  Coat of Arms of the region – Include in the brochure. (max. 5 points)

§  Regional Climate - Include average temperature, precipitation, etc. (max. 5 points)

§  Natural Resources – What are the region’s natural resources? (max. 5 points)

§  Regional Government – Describe form of regional government, capital, special laws or voting information. (max .10 points)

§  Cultural Customs – Describe information about traditions or activities of ethnic groups specific to the region. (max. 5 points)

§  Regional Industrial/Agricultural Information - How do people earn a living in your region? What crops are grown there? Animals etc. (max. 10 points)

§  Regional Recreation - What do the people in your region do for fun? (max. 5 points)

§  3 Interesting Facts - Include information like the regional bird, flower, song, or other attention-grabbing information. (max. 10 points)

§  3 Places to visit - What can tourists do or see when they visit the region? (max. 10 points)

Your brochure can be done by hand, or done on computer. It should be neat (max. 10 points), colorful (max. 10 points) and you should follow directions (max 5 points).
You will make a 2-3 minute presentation to the class showing your brochure. Your brochure is due on March 7th. 10 points will be deducted for each school day the brochure is late.
