6th grade Advanced Language Arts Agenda for the Weeks of 2/5 – 2/9, 2/12 – 2/16, and 2/19 – 2/23

Upcoming assignment due dates:

1.Assignment 18 in the grammar packet is due Wed., 2/7.

2.Lesson 11 vocab exercises are due Thurs., 2/8.

3.Students will read pages 48-73 of The Martian Chronicles by Fri., 2/9.

4.Lesson 12 vocab exercises are due Thurs., 2/15.

5.The usage practice test is due Tues., 2/20.

6.Lessons 11-12 vocab review exercises, all problems, are due Fri., 2/23.

7.Students will take the Lessons 11-12 vocab quiz on Fri., 2/23.

8.Students will read pages 73-89 of The Martian Chronicles before class starts on Mon., 2/26.

Monday, 2/5

  1. Students will take the interim test today.
  2. If students finish the interim test before the end of the testing period, they should begin reading pages 48-73 of The Martian Chronicles.

Tuesday, 2/6

  1. No class today because of the interim day schedule.

Wednesday, 2/7

  1. Mr. Wenz will preview the Lesson 11 vocab exercises.
  2. Students will silently work on one of the following upcoming assignments:
  1. Assignment 18 in the grammar packet is due by the end of the period today if you want full credit.
  2. Lesson 11 vocab exercises are due tomorrow.
  3. Students will read pages 48-73 of The Martian Chronicles by Friday.

Thursday, 2/8

  1. Assignment 18 is past due. Please submit ASAP.
  2. Students will check answers to the Lesson 11 vocab exercises.
  3. Students will read pages 48-73 of The Martian Chroniclesby tomorrow.

Friday, 2/9

  1. Students will discuss pages 48-73 of The Martian Chronicles.
  2. Students will work on the questions over pages 32-73 of The Martian Chronicles. The questions covering Chapters 5-7 (both parts) are due one week from today.

Monday, 2/12

  1. No class today because of interim testing.

Tuesday, 2/13

  1. Students will complete Exercise Nineteen from the grammar packet in class and will then check answers.
  2. Students will preview the Lesson 12 vocab words and roots.
  3. Students will work on the Lesson 12 vocab exercises, which are due Thursday. (Remember: there’s no class tomorrow due to the B day schedule.)

Wednesday, 2/14

  1. No class today due to the B day schedule.

Thursday, 2/15

  1. Students will check answers to the Lesson 12 vocab exercises, which are due today.
  2. Students will work on the questions covering pages 32-73 of The Martian Chronicles. These questions are due no later than Tuesday, 2/20 for full credit.

Friday, 2/16

  1. Students will complete Assignment Twenty from the grammar packet in class and will then check answers. Students will take a test over Assignments 18-20 of the grammar packet next week.
  2. Students will work on Martian Chroniclesquestions for Chapters 5-7. This assignment is due by Thursday next week if students want full credit.
  3. Students who are finished with their Martian Chronicles questions may work on the Usage practice test, which is due on Tuesday.

Tuesday, 2/20

  1. The usage practice test is due. Students will check answers in class. Students will take the usage test on Thursday.
  2. Students should work on one of the other assignments due this week:
  1. The Lessons 11-12 vocab review exercises are due Friday; the Lessons 11-12 vocab quiz will also be administered on Friday.
  2. Students should read pages 73-89 of The Martian Chronicles by Monday of next week. (Note: we will not be reading the chapter entitled “Way in the Middle of the Air,” which is on pages 89-103, because of vocabulary that some students may find offensive.)

Wednesday, 2/21

  1. No class today due to the C day schedule.

Thursday, 2/22

  1. Students will take the usage test today.
  2. After submitting their test, students should work on one of the following:
  1. The Lessons 11-12 vocab review exercises are due tomorrow; students will also take the Lessons 11-12 vocab quiz tomorrow.
  2. Students should read pages 73-89 of The Martian Chronicles by Monday. (Note: we will not be reading the chapter entitled “Way in the Middle of the Air,” which is on pages 89-103, because of vocabulary that some students may find offensive.)

Friday, 2/23

  1. Anybody who did not take the usage test yesterday will need to take it today.
  2. The Lessons 11-12 vocab review exercises are due; please submit.
  3. After studying for 10 minutes, students will take the quiz over Lessons 11-12 today.
  4. Homework: students should read pages 73-89 of The Martian Chronicles by Monday. (Note: we will not be reading the chapter entitled “Way in the Middle of the Air,” which is on pages 89-103, because of vocabulary that some students may find offensive.)
  5. Students who have already read pages 73-89 should work on the questions covering these pages.

Monday, 2/26

  1. Mr. Wenz will pass back the usage test and students will review answers.
  2. Anybody who didn’t take the Lessons 11-12 vocab quiz on Friday needs to take it by tomorrow
  3. Students will discuss pages 73-89 of The Martian Chronicles.
  4. Students will work on the questions covering pages 73-89 of The Martian Chronicles.
