Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys’ Rockabilly Dance Party at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Cotuit Center for the Arts presents Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys’ Rockabilly Dance Party on Saturday, August 20, at 7:30 PM. The risers will be take up to provide plenty of room for dancing. A full bar will be available.

The show celebrates the release of Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys’ latest album, "Sarah Swain & theOh Boys," a mix of Swain’s original compositions and rockabilly covers that have become staples in the group’s live performances.

Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys have been playing to packed houses across the Cape since 2009, offering Swain’s well-crafted originals and rocking rockabilly classics with a splash of soul. Swain, on vocals and guitar, exudes an effervescent, infectious energy that will get everyone on their feet. Joining her are slide guitar virtuoso Jerry Smith, “Rocket” Ron Siegel on upright bass, and Liam Hogg on drums.

Growing up West Virginia, Swain was inspired by the country music she heard on the radio. She later moved to the Boston area and began writing songs and playing music after her mother bought her a guitar when she was 14. She soon became a fixture in the local indie/folk scene.

Since then she has toured on her own and as a supporting musician in various indie bands. In 2006, she released her first solo album, “One Girl Town,” which has been described as “pretty songs with a bite.” Her second album, “Every Little Bird” won Album of the Year at the Limelight Magazine Music Awards in 2013. It has been called as “a collection of folky melodies and gritty rock.”

Now living and performing on the Cape, Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys are known for their vibrant performances and lively dance parties.

Tickets are $28, $25 for seniors and veterans, and $23 for members. A Dinner + Show package at Villaggio at the Regatta in Cotuit is available. For tickets and more information, visit artsonthecape.org or call 508-428-0669. Cotuit Center for the Arts is at 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit.
