Current Position / Medical Director – Intermountain Healthcare Telehealth Services / 2011 - Present
Responsible for the strategic vision and design for how telehealth technology and concepts can support Intermountain Healthcare’s Shared Accountability goals. This program encompasses the use of telehealth technology for inpatient and outpatient services including online access from home via internet and mobile technologies.
Areas of influence in addition to medical director for telehealth services:
  1. Led and worked directly with an agile programming team to assemble and implement an online care service called “eVisit” well below projected budget and timeframe. Projected $1.45 million and 1+ years, delivered for $350K and in 3 months. Application is still in production and use.
  2. Leading the merger of the organizations “Personalized Patient Room” concept with Cerner’s MyStation room experience since the organization decided to adopt the Cerner EMR platform.
  3. Worked with the CTO to establish a booth presence at tradeshows (ATA, mHealth, HIMSS, CES) to highlight new innovations and processes which has resulted in significant returns for the organization two years running.
  4. Introduced the eVisit solution at mHealth and the American Telemedicine Association annual conferences demonstrating industry changing features in online video management that allowed the online care process to mirror the clinical workflow.
  5. Led an agile programming team to create new features for a multi-camera video chat solution what would allow parents to connect with their babies in the NICU but going through the NICU front desk for authentication. This required the team to create a video transfer/hold process not previously available in the application.
  6. Designed a simulation and testing suite for telehealth and video enabled call centers that was nominated for a design award and completed on time and 40% below projected budget.
  7. Participated in the design of the healthcare transformation lab and influenced key design and technical decisions. Currently designing the healthcare transformation lab’s workshop and prototype staging areas.
  8. Participated in the selection, design, and customization of the healthcare transformation lab’s RV acquisition for a mobile demonstration vehicle.
  9. Participate in discussions with healthcare transformation lab partners and companies presenting projects to the lab (Intel, Dell, Xi3, Cisco, others).
  10. Support and participate with team members in the healthcare transformation lab to navigate ideas and projects from concept through end goals that range from open source to commercialization.
  11. At the request of the CFO and CIO, currently working with a dedicated team on a business model canvas, financials, and operations for a dedicated online care company to function external to existing clinical brick and mortar operations.

Assisted in study and authored the data collection program and process for demonstrating the difference between the NDNQI’s approach to assessing incidence based on reporting compared to a study that performed physical exams to demonstrate a more accurate incidence of pressure wounds.
