FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

United Way and Fort Knox Federal Credit Union Partnership Mobilizes Volunteers

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – By creating an online venue that both allows individuals to see the many ways they can make a difference and agencies to promote their needs, a partnership between United Way of Central Kentucky and Fort Knox Federal Credit Union has increased the potential for volunteerism and involvement in the community.

The online system, which is administrated by UWCK, is called Central Kentucky Serves. Agencies can post one-time service needs, ongoing volunteer opportunities, in-kind donations requested, or leadership roles for Board or Committee positions. Users can go to centralkyserves.org to find needs that fit their interests and directly respond to the benefiting agency.

“This program is a perfect example of United Way of Central Kentucky’s mission to connect our community for the common good,” said UWCK President & CEO Megan Stith. “We have wanted to more effectively provide volunteer placement services to our region for some time, and are grateful to Fort Knox Federal Credit Union for making this vision become a reality.” In 2015, UWCK provided over 1,400 volunteer opportunities with 4,800 hours served at a value of $98,000.

“Making this site come to life was an opportunity for Fort Knox Federal to do more than just create matches among the service community and private citizens; it will also help to build lasting relationships that reflect our commitment to reinvesting in our community,” said Fort Knox Federal Credit Union President & CEO Ray Springsteen.

Opportunities currently listed online include mentoring at-risk children, serving as a volunteer photographer or receptionist, unloading and sorting food donations, teaching financial literacy classes to those in need of a fresh start, and more. Users can go to centralkyserves.org at any time to respond to these needs. There is no cost to users or for any organization that wants to post needs, and the service is not limited to those agencies that receive UWCK funding. Needs continue to be sought from agencies across Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson, LaRue, and Meade Counties. A toolkit for organizations interested in participating can be found at the United Way website, unitedwayck.org.

Responding to needs is easy and can change a life. Find your match today at centralkyserves.org.
