I. WHEN DAVID WAS REPENTING OF HIS SINS (2 Samuel 12:12-14)

“You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.” Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the Lord show utter contempt, the son born to you will die.”

When David wrote Psalm 32, he was not hiding from Saul, he was not hiding from Absolam, he was hiding from the repercussions of his own sin

III. What a covering we have in the Lord because He has forgiven our sins

I. A Covering of Safety (Psalms 32:7)

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

A. When we are in Christ we are safe from the attacks of men

II. A Covering of Forgiveness (Psalms 32:1-2)

Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him.

III. A Covering of Intimacy (Psalms 32:5)

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”—and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

A. Until we can bring our sins to God our shame keeps us in hiding
