5-time award winning production expertise

Hengst receives fifth award in a row in the International Aluminum Die Casting Competition

That is a real success series: For the fifth time Hengst participated in the International Aluminum Die Casting Competition – and for the fifth time in a row was among the winners. The jury of experts awarded a “special recognition” for the oil-coolant module for DAF utility vehicle motors developed by Hengst and produced at the Nordwalde location. The award was presented at the Euroguss trade fair in Nuremberg.

The aluminum die-cast part produced by Hengst is the core of the module, which in turn is a component of an international motor platform. The MX-11 motors are used in the DAF XF and CF series in vehicles from DAF, Kennworth, Peterbilt and Solaris Bus, as well as numerous construction and agricultural machines. The development engineers at Hengst faced complex requirements. With a consistently lightweight construction consisting of thin-walled die-cast aluminum, the part fulfills stringent tightness and compressive strength requirements. It should also be noted that the module is designed as a lifetime component.

“We are very pleased to have again received an award in the International Aluminum Die Cast Competition,” says Jens Röttgering, proprietor of the Hengst Group. “It confirms our strategy of combining development, engineering and production expertise under one roof. It enables us, in cooperation with vehicle manufacturers, to develop innovative concepts that are ready for series production in a short time.”

The die-cast component is manufactured in Hengst’s in-house aluminum foundry in Nordwalde (Münsterland) – one of the most modern facilities of its type worldwide. The near-net-shape component produced in the foundry meets the most stringent quality requirements for precision and purity.

Hengst will invest nearly 35 million euros in the Nordwalde location within the next three years. In 2018 alone, 15 million will flow into the largest production location of the Hengst Group.
