† Call to Worship from Psalm 111

Leader: The Lord be with you!

All: And also with you!

Leader: I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.

All: Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.

Leader: He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful

All: He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name!

Leader: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! We come O Christ to you. Let us worship You in the splendor of your holiness!

† Hymns of Praise: #117 We Come, O Christ, to You DARWELL

Prayer of Confession

Leader: Let us pray.

All: Gracious God and Father, our coming to you this morning is of necessity; for we are sinners all. Even this past week we turned deaf ears to your Spirit who would have had us choose righteousness; instead we chose to think, speak and act according to our old fallen natures. We gossiped when we should have prayed. We hid behind fear when we might have offered apologies and received forgiveness from those we sinned against. We cherished and nurtured hurts when we might instead have enjoyed the new life that comes with forgiving those who sinned against us. So we come, Father, confessing and repenting of all our sins in the silence of these next few moments.

(As the Spirit has called us to God’s throne of grace, this place of peace, use the next few moments of silent prayer to confess your sins to God.)

Leader: Thank you, Father, for hearing our prayers,

All: Thank you for hearing us and forgiving us that we might begin again to be whole, holy people, bringing honor and glory to you. For this we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

Assurance of God’s Forgiveness

Leader: Friends, hear the good news of the Gospel! God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. In Jesus Christ you are forgiven.

All: Thanks be to God!

Leader: And because we are completely forgiven we can pray with

joy the prayer Jesus taught us saying …

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our

daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN.

† Response of Praise:

O for the wonderful love He has promised, Promised for you and for me!

Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,

Pardon for you and for me.

Come home, come home, Ye who are weary, come home;

Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, Calling O sinner come home.

Confession of Faith

I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of heaven and earth; I believe in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Postlude

If you desire prayer for any need this morning, members of our prayer ministry team are waiting at the front of the sanctuary to pray with you privately and confidentially..

Welcome to Westminster

We are glad you are here worshipping with us. We like to send out a short letter of welcome to our visitors, so if you are comfortable doing so, take a moment to sign the Friendship Folio that will be passed during the welcome this morning.

We know that not everyone who visits is ready to fill out their name and address so feel free to wait until such time as you are ready – get to know us for a few weeks then decide! We think that finding a church home is so important that visiting four or five weeks in a row is a great idea. Hear both our pastors preach, maybe visit a Sunday school class, get a feel for the people, the ministers, and the building – then decide.

And again, know that we are glad you are here!
