4th International Seed Health Conference

SEED – SOURCE OF INFECTION

7-9 September 2009

Wrocław, Poland

High quality seed is a key factor to successful crop production. Seed health has been considered an attribute of high quality and is of great concern both to the seed industry and growers. Globalization of the seed trade has had a considerable impact on dissemination of plant pathogens. Results of scientific research on seed health and seed treatment could lead tobetter understanding the role of seedborne pathogens and to minimize the risk of their transmission. Therefore, seed health testing has been included as an integral part of seed quality systems in many countries.

The following topics, as most important, were selected for the programme of the Conference:

  • Seed, pathogen, environment
  • Healthy seed for a successful crop production
  • Quarantine and certification as a tool to minimize distribution of seedborne pathogens
  • Detection of seedborne pathogens
  • Seed treatments
  • Pathological aspects of seed storage
  • Tree seed pathology

We believe that the Conference will be fruitful and inspiring for participants to create new ideas in their research work.

We welcome all colleagues to the Conference and we wish everybody good time during the Conference.
