CHEERLEADING COMPETITION

RULES

FOR ALL TEAMS

1. Initial Registrations:

A.  Entry deadline must be postmarked not later than July 1, 2010

B.  Initial fee is $35.00 per team. Payment or Purchase Order (P.O.) MUST be submitted with the registration form. Check should be made payable to Hancock County Ag Society and sent to Hancock County Ag Society - PO Box 148 Findlay, OH 45839

C.  Late fee of $15.00 will assessed to all applications postmarked after July 1, 2010 with final deadline being August 1, 2010.

2. Competition Day Registration:

A.  Must be done at least one (1) hour prior to performance time. (Performance times will be posted in the official website)

B.  Due to cancellations, schedule times may be moved up at the discretion of the competition Coordinators (by not more than 15 minutes.)

C.  Cheerleading competition organizers reserve the right to add, change, delete or combine divisions for any reason. We may split into more divisions in the JV, 9th grade, and Middle School divisions as necessary, based on registrations.

3. Performance Area:

A.  The performance area for SCHOOLS will be cheerleading mats.

B.  Teams may enter the boundaries from wherever they prefer.

4. Safety Guidelines:

A.  For School teams, National Federation High School Spirit (NFHS) Safety Guidelines shall apply.

B.  Violations of safety guidelines (or general rules) will result in the loss of ten (10) pts. per penalty from the total score. If unsportsmanlike behavior is observed from anyone (including coaches, athletes, parents and fans), officials reserve the right to assess a 10-point penalty against the associated team or program.

5. Music:

A.  Cassette tapes or Compact Discs (CDs) only. Home and custom burned compact discs will not play on all sound systems.

B.  Must be cued and ready.

C.  Must have a representative from your group at the tape recorder one group prior to your performance.

D.  Must have second tape/CD on hand.

6. Judging:

A.  All judging and rule interpretations are final.

7. Routine:

A.  Will be not longer than 4:00 in length (team will lose 10 pts. from total score if time limit is exceeded.)

B.  Timing begins with the first note of music, or the first word after the team is announced, whichever comes first.

C.  For school teams, routines need to include at least one (1) cheer, and/or one (1) sideline (chant)

D.  Teams in “no mount” divisions who do any kind of mount will be moved to the “mount” division. In the no-mount division, individuals may NOT support one another in any type of pyramid or mount or stunt.

E.  Signs of any kind, megaphones, and/or poms are permitted. Wearable articles (e.g., hats) are permitted, as long as they are worn sometime during the routine.

2. Crowd Pleaser:

Time limit: 1-1/2 minutes, maximum

Music: May be used for the entire routine or just a portion of it. Pre-recorded music should be low during the cheer portion, so that the judges can hear the participant’s voice.

Routine: Should include the following: 3 jumps, cheer/motions and a dance.

These skills may be performed in any order, AS LONG AS THE 3 JUMPS ARE PERFORMED IN A ROW.

Tumbling: TUMBLING THAT INVOLES HIP-OVER-HEAD ROTATION, IS PROHIBITED. THIS INCLUDES ENTERING AND EXITING THE PERFORMANCE AREA.

3. Elite Best Cheerleader:

Time limit: 1-1/2 minutes, maximum

Music: May be used for the entire routine or just a portion of it. Pre-recorded music should be low during the cheer portion, so that the judges can hear the participant’s voice.

Routine: Should include the following: 3 jumps, tumbling skills (standing or running), cheer/motions and a dance.

These skills may be performed in any order, AS LONG AS THE 3 JUMPS ARE PERFORMED IN A ROW.

Tumbling: skills are limited to 1 flipping and 2 twisting rotations.
