Polar bears are the biggest bears. They live in the North Pole and they are very dangerous animals. They can swim well and run fast. Their fur is white, but their skin is black. They eat fish and hunt small animals, but they don’t eat fruit like brown bears. They like cold weather, snow and ice, but they can’t ski! They build their houses in the snow and they sleep and have their babies there. The babies live with their mothers for two years. When baby polar bears are very young, their mothers stay with them. They feed them and teach them new things. Many brown and black bears sleep all winter, but polar bears usually don’t.

Spring

By Bob Carter

Spring is my family’s favourite season. In March, we plant seeds in the garden and we wait to see the flowers grow bigger and bigger. I help my parents water the flowers and the plants in April, and the weather is nice and warm. The days are longer than in winter, and they’re often sunny. I don’t wear sweaters and I can wear T-shirts and shorts. I can ride my bike with my friends in the park, too.

The leaves on the trees are green and the flowers and herbs smell good. In May, my family and I go to the forest for walks and we look for insects and butterflies. Sometimes, we go camping and we have a campfire and cook sausages! Yummy!
