University Elects New Members of Staff Senate
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 24, 2006) − The winners of the University of Kentucky Staff Senate recent election have been announced. The 75 new senators will be sworn in at the senate’s July 13meeting, bringing the total number of campuswide representatives to 91.
On Jan. 22, 2002, the UK Board of Trustees approved a governing regulation establishing an elected UK Staff Senate to serve as a liaison between staff members and the UK administration, students and faculty. At the time, the board authorized the Staff Senate to address the UK president or, through the staff trustee, the UK Board of Trustees, regarding any matter affecting the staff of the university.
