Comprehension Skill:
Analyze the Story Structure
As you read, pay attention to the details the author gives about the characters and events in the story. These story clues will help you make inferences about the characters.
Inference:
Authors do not always tell readers directly everything that takes place in a story or text. A good reader must take what details the author does prove and make inferences or decisions, about events and character’s actions that are not stated. Making inferences can help readers understand and describe the interaction between characters in a story, including their
relationships and the changes they undergo
RL4.1 Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
