Explanatory notes

1Tour members include competitors, performers, coaches, managers, medical and support personnel. A sport team includes both individual and team sports and may be one individual or a group of individuals.

2A tour involves an overnight stay of one or more night's duration.

Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Develop tour objectives and plan an itinerary.

Rangeitinerary includes – destinations, travel dates and times, accommodation, practice and playing or performing venues, dates, and times.

Evidence requirements

1.1Tour objectives are developed in participation with tour members and are communicated in writing to all individuals.

Rangeall individuals include – tour members, club or organisation executive.

1.2The itinerary is planned and is consistent with documented tour objectives.

1.3The itinerary is documented and distributed to all individuals.

Rangeall individuals include – tour members, club or organisation executive.

Outcome 2

Make all necessary arrangements for a tour.

Rangearrangements include – finance, equipment, travel, accommodation, recreation and training opportunities, medical treatment.

Evidence requirements

2.1A financial plan is developed and documented and complies with the financial plan of the club or organisation.

2.2Equipment required is assessed and assembled and complies with the requirements of the tour and participation conditions.

2.3Travel and accommodation arrangements are completed according to the documented itinerary.

2.4Contingency strategies are developed and documented.

Rangecontingencies include – disruption to travel and accommodation arrangements, injury and illness of tour members, alterations to itinerary, misplaced or lost equipment, misplaced or lost baggage, incidents that attract media attention.

Outcome 3

Establish and maintain communication with tour members.

Evidence requirements

3.1Systems are established for communicating with tour members and are explained to all tour members.

Rangesystems include – newsletters, tour group meetings, personal contact.

3.2Information is communicated to tour members according to established systems.

Rangeinformation includes – tour objectives, itinerary, travel and accommodation arrangements, equipment and clothing requirements, responsibilities on tour, financial requirements, food.

Delegate areas of responsibility on tour.

Evidence requirements

4.1Areas of responsibility are identified and documented.

Rangeresponsibilities include – requirements of sponsors, equipment, team captain, acknowledgements, public relations, attendance at official functions, liaison with media.

4.2Abilities of individual tour members are identified with respect to identified areas of responsibility and commitments while on tour.

4.3Responsibilities are delegated according to tour members' identified abilities and commitments.

Outcome 5

Develop a tour code of conduct and apply it throughout a tour.

Rangecode of conduct includes – behaviour, requirements of sponsors, attendance at official functions.

Evidence requirements

5.1Code of conduct for tour members is developed, documented, and communicated to all individuals.

Rangeall individuals include – tour members, executive of club or organisation.

5.2Sanctions for non-compliance are developed, documented, and communicated to all individuals.

Rangeall individuals include – tour members, executive of club or organisation.

5.3Code of conduct and sanctions are applied throughout the tour as documented.

Outcome 6

Manage a team or group while on tour.

Evidence requirements

6.1Tour members arrive at venues on time.

Rangevenues include – transport departure points, accommodation, event.

6.2Required equipment arrives at event venue or venues on time.

6.3Finances are managed according to documented financial plan.

6.4Individuals are overseen to ensure delegated responsibilities are carried out.

Outcome 7

Evaluate outcomes of a tour.

Evidence requirements

7.1Evaluation methods are selected and implemented according to the requirements of the club or organisation.

7.2Documented tour objectives are compared with the outcomes of the tour to ascertain the extent to which the objectives have been achieved.

7.3Evaluation results are presented in written report according to the requirements of the club or organisation.

7.4Recommendations for future tours are made based on documented evaluation results.
