Clerk of Course (CoC) for Championships:
The Clerk of Course is meant to be a helpful tool to get the swimmers to the blocks quickly and
efficiently and to avoid delays during the meet. Lane Slips are not used during Championships
and there are multiple heats for each event, so the CoC ensures that the swimmers are
delivered to the proper lane for their swim. We appreciate everyone patience and cooperation
in making this run smoothly.
There will only be CoC the morning session on Monday for individual events (NO RELAYS). The
rest of Championships, swimmers will be on their own to get behind the blocks and to their
events on time.
The large teams (GH, SH, WY & EV) need to provide a minimum of 3 volunteers for each shift
(6 total) and the small teams (RD, BA, St. B, NW, SP) need to provide 2 volunteers for each shift
(4 total).
We are happy to take extra volunteers, since SH usually fills an additional 7 spots. The shifts
are from 8:30-10:45 AM and from 10:45 AM-1:00 PM. The volunteers who report at 8:30 AM
should be prompt. There will be an instructional period and workers will be assigned to their
stations. The workers that come to relieve at 10:45 AM will be trained by the first shift, so
again, please be timely, so the first shift workers can get their break. First shift workers may
not leave until they have trained their replacements from their own team. All workers should
be prepared to be flexible and friendly (this is a big day for our little swimmers!)
There will be separate gathering areas for Boys and Girls before they are lead to the chairs.
The seating areas will be 8 rows of 6 chairs each. These will need to be numbered ahead of
time. There will also be awning covered staging seats behind the blocks.
Swimmers should have LAST NAME, FIRST NAME written in Sharpie on their right shoulder.
Please have parents write the last name that appears in the heat sheet and not nicknames.
CoC will have 2 workers behind the blocks; 2 workers with the Boys; 2 workers with the Girls;
and then each lane will have two workers bringing the swimmers in.
Swimmers should not be sent to CoC until FIRST CALL for that event. When First Call is made,
swimmers will be directed into the proper locations.
It is best if parents know ahead of time, that swimmers need to be left at CoC. Please
encourage parents to trust the system, it does work.
