What? A fun competition! When, Where, and How?

Just before winter break attend an interest meeting to learn more about the competition. You must read at least two of the books listed below by the end of January 2013! You will take the AR test by then to prove to Mrs. Hamel that you have read the book.

Become an expert about the books below by reading them. Read at least 2 of the books listed below and join a team. Everyone who wishes to participate will be placed on a team. As a team, the students will decide which two books each participant will read for expert status.

Beginning in January, students will make a commitment to meet at least once a week during lunch to prepare for competition. During our lunchtime meetings, students are coached to read DEEPLY for comprehension and retention. Discussion and practice questions will be used to help kids become experts! Competition teams will be decided by mid-February.

School teams will compete by answering questions about each book at the end of March. The winning team will go on to represent IPES at the district-wide championship held in April.
