One means of doing so is through the xBus. The xBus is a double-decker bus which is used as a mobile youth centre. The xBus enables us to meet with young people where they are and to provide a fun and safe place to be with friends and engage with a team of youth workers.

The xBus Manager will take lead responsibility for ensuring that the objectives and outcomes of the xBus are delivered.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

•  Detailed planning and coordination of the xBus;

•  Driving the xBus to and from its base of operations and the estate locations (or arranging for drivers);

•  Taking part in xBus projects as both a driver and a Youth Worker

•  Maintaining required records concerning maintenance and usage;

•  Planning and managing the ongoing servicing and maintenance of the bus (including weekly checks, repairs, annual services and MOT);

•  Ensuring health and safety and equal opportunities policy implementation on the bus;

•  Collaborating with the Sublime Team to develop relationships with churches, community stakeholders and other organisations;

•  Liaising with outside agencies that may be able to supplement or extend the work that Sublime provides through the xBus project;

•  Creating a high level of community awareness relating to the xBus project with children and young people, parents/guardians, youth organisations, local council, schools, special interest groups, etc.;

•  Identify the types of activity that are appropriate to the context of each location/estate;

•  Ensuring that all quality and performance monitoring information is gathered;

•  Undertaking youth work together with the Sublime Youth Workers, to develop appropriate relationships with the young people attending the bus and their families and deliver the sessional activities.
