2017 Lay Servant Training Schedule
March 18 and 25 classes will be held at First UMC, 309 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, from 9:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m. both days.

July 22 and 23 classes will be held at Wilton UMC, 1401 Maurer Street, Wilton. Saturday is from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Sunday is from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

October 22 and 29 classes will be held at Kalona UMC, 302 4th Street, Kalona, from 1:30-7:30 p.m. both days.

All laity are invited to attend any of these classes even if you are not desiring recognition as a Certified Lay Servant.
Certified Lay Servant – Has taken the Basic training and one additional Advanced Class.
Lay Speaker must take the Basic and complete courses on ALL of the following topics: Discovering Spiritual Gifts, Leading Worship, Leading Prayer, Preaching, United Methodist Heritage, and United Methodist Polity.
Certified Lay Minister must complete the three-year School for Lay Ministry Program.

Deadline for registration is two weeks prior to event. Each class is $10 with a $5 late fee after the deadline.
You must attend both days of classes in order to receive credit.
Basic Course
Basic Lay Servant Ministry– This course is the foundation for all courses in Lay Servant Ministries and is a requirement prior to taking any advanced courses.
